This gorgeous pairing’s Hatchlings are deep purples and blues, and remind one of the many Royals that are found throughout Myths and Literature. If you would like to see the exact possibilities they have color-wise, check here
Pairing Lore
Irador and Artemis. The ultimate romance. They completed each other perfectly: Irador was the disowned Prince of a Nature Kingdom, and Artemis was a powerful Arcane sorcerer. Though Irador was haughty and formal, Artemis loved him anyway. He was also quite thorough, and this perfection satisfied Artemis, who couldn’t stand imperfection. On the other hand, Artemis’s grace and ingenuity won over the sometimes inflexible Irador. His loyalty and her passion were like two unstoppable fires. As their romance grew, so did their family.
The match wasn’t as picturesque for their Hatchlings. Growing up in a family where the father never acknowledged what they did and was always stiff and a mother who critiqued any imperfection was unhealthy for the little ones. Yes, their parents cared about them, but it didn’t show as obviously as some parents’ love. Some grew up cold and dark, while others rebelled in any ways they could. Still more adopted their parent’s formal ways and siphoned out any of their feelings. Their heritage, along with their Birth Element, made many of the Hatchlings leave the Clan of the Aeolians. Nearly all of Irador and Artemis’s Hatchlings inherited her grace in the sky, while some also gained Irador’s nature magic or Artemis’s unusually strong Arcane magic. Either power is dangerous for a Dragon who has felt underappreciated all of their lives. Beware, these Hatchlings, though beautiful, may lead somewhere dark in the future.

Ashen and Shula’s hatchlings are based off of the Myth of the four seasons. Demeter, the goddess of agriculture kept the world green and growing. When Hades kidnapped her daughter Persephone to be his queen, she began to mourne and the world became cold and dead. Finally, a deal was made where Persephone was allowed to come home for half of the year. Thus, in Spring and Summer Demeter was happy and the world was green and alive. One interesting story in Greek mythology is the story of Aphrodite and Hephaestus. Long story short, all of the Greek gods wanted to marry Aphrodite, the goddess of love. Instead of fighting over her, they decided to have her marry the crippled god Hephaestus, the god of metalworking. They did this because he didn’t care as much and it would stop the fighting. Hephaestus and Aphrodite’s marriage didn’t end well, but these little hatchlings have both the colors of love and the colors of metal, a union between two very different things. This pair is based on Antique Writing Sets. Think feather pens, inkwells, and, most important of all, Wax Seals. Their primary colors reflect the ink, their secondaries and tertiaries the wax seals. A Fantasy Aesthetic wouldn’t be complete without the image of a cozy day, writing letters on faded paper, and sending them out to a friend. The Inheritance Cycle is an incredible series, with plenty of Dragons to satisfy us all! Of all the Dragons in Eragon, none is more iconic than Saphira. Interestingly enough, Christopher Poalini, the Author of the books, is slightly red-green color blind. This means that he actually saw Saphira as what we would consider purple. Thus, the tribute to Saphira! These hatchlings vary in range of colors from bluer to more purple, and each might be the color of just one Scale on Saphira Bjartskular! Alchemy. The Medieval Art of turning lead into gold. Ultimately, it turned out that it was impossible. But in Fantasy, nothing is impossible… These Dragons look like lead turning into gold, just as in the dreams of the most talented Alchemists. With two pairs, Coatls, Imperials, and Skydancers, there is a lot of variety to choose from with these precious little ones. The Knights of the Round Table were King Arthur’s Legendary knights. They came in every color: The Green Knight, Black Knights, White Knights, and so on. The different colors symbolized different things. Red symbolized power, passion, and strong warriors, whereas blue symbolized purity, wisdom, and loyalty. Black was grief, constancy, and death, whereas green was life, youth, and hope. From this wide range of colors, there are endless combinations to write the story for your knight! Pair Lore
Dawn and Brier’s hatchlings are brought up from two entirely different upbringings. Brier is relaxed while Dawn is formal. This shapes these Dragons to be very unique and colorful. They are taught freedom and sincerity, and though some of the Dragons adhere to their parent’s ideals, some wonder why formality is such a bad thing. These Dragons are also typically very open-minded, and lean towards learning due to their mother’s upbringing. At the same time they are often fun-loving and rule-breaking. These mischievous little ones will journey far and wide in the search of the perfect place for them to be, and will not stop until they find it, because, for them, often the place that they belong is their Charge.

The Jotnar are the giant Frost Giants in Norse mythology, and while these Dragons aren’t giant, their frosty colors and metallic plumage are reminiscent of the creatures. Jotnar are interesting creatures, who are often antagonistic towards the Norse gods, but at the same time will help them on occasion. Legend has it that they will help to bring about Ragnarok: The end of the world. Their coloring is pretty straightforward, but you can find it here
 Pairing Lore
Argent and Silver’s hatchlings grew up well cared for–more so than many Dragons. Argent was always meticulous in caring for his children, especially because he didn’t have much growing up. Silver took them on outings and excursions, showing them the best places in the world of Sornieth. Every clutch that they had, they took them back to the Icefields, to show them how Argent grew up. Then, they would show them just how warm and good life could be. All of the hatchlings were destined to have the same plumage as their parents–silvery and metallic, which means none of them will be able to return to the Ashfall Waste. How will this influence their futures?

Koi are magnificent creatures, and even have their own legend: When one swims to the top of a waterfall, they turn into a Dragon. These ones did become Dragons, and they look like they would be right at home in the Sea of a Thousand Currents. Another name for koi is “Swimming Jewels” due to their bright colors, and these live up to the name. They look like Sapphires and have Sapphire tertiary!

Pair Lore–Xen and Azure
These Hatchlings have lived happy lives. Xen and Azure are both very laid back and their hatchlings tend to reflect this. Xen also values learning highly, so while they are sometimes lazy, these hatchlings are usually intelligent and have read more books than most other Dragons combined! The only time that these Dragons will get tense is when they are playing a game or in a fight–they cannot stand to lose and will do anything to achieve their goals.

EmeraldCreature’s Pair
This is not a Fantasy Pairing! It is not a Mythology Pairing! It a pairing of the most Legendary food and drink ever… Sushi and Boba. The parents' names: Sushi and Boba. The hatchlings’ names: anything sushi or boba related. Their colors: Green like seaweed and blue-ish purple like taro milk tea! While this is an exception to the theme, the hatchlings still have Lore, and they are kind of related if you think about it this way: They are from the Legend of the Best Food Ever. You can find the possible colors here!
Pair Lore
Sushi and Boba’s Hatchlings grew up in a very strict environment. Sushi never let any of them get out of line while Boba’s stubborn nature meant that they were never able to get her to change her mind. This meant that while some get rebellious, others are very obedient. It wasn’t the most forgiving atmosphere for the little hatchlings, and leads to them being defensive and protective.

In all mythology, keys themes often include battle and war. This means that Blacksmiths were usually key side characters—the ones who made the warriors’ famed swords. However, there was always one whose workmanship was greater than that of any human smith: The god’s smith. This was usually the god of fire as well, as in the case of Hephaestus, Greek god of Smithing and Fire. Any weapons forged by the hand of a god was immediately legendary, and often extremely important. For example, in the battle of Troy, when Achilles went to fight Hector, his mother had Hephaestus make him his famed armour, which helped him to win the battle. These Dragon’s Hatchlings symbolize the flicker of the flames in a forge (with the Pharaoh and Sarcophagus) as well as the molten metal that is slowly being shaped into a weapon of war (metallic and alloy). All the Hatchlings are XXX Sunsets!

This pair is different from the rest: This is based off a legend of something that happened in Sornieth itself. [i[Long ago, when the Banescales were frozen solid and shattered, there were a couple frail and sickly Banescales whose blood already ran cold. When their eggs were frozen, the adapted to the cold. They gradually became part of the cold and ice, and when all the eggs hatched again, were more different than similar to their fiery cousins. These icy Banescales separated from their kin, for they did not care about the same things. And though the songs of the Elder Banescales still resonated in their minds, these Dragons and their hatchlings never fit into the world in the same way. They were different. They made their homes in the most frozen wastes and stayed away from other species, and became known as Ice Spirits, or The Frozen Ones. All of Snow and Storm’s hatchlings will have Ice/Ice/Ice Metallic/Alloy/Fans or Phantom.

In Native American mythology, there are numerous references of legendary creatures known as The Thunder Birds. These giant birds were said to be able to hold a whale in their talons, create thunder with the flapping of their wings, and have lightning shoot from their eyes. Moreover, it is possible that at some point in history an animal like the Thunderbird existed—just probably without the supernatural powers. These Dragons are based off of the Thunderbirds, with their bright plumage and lightning like colors. EmeraldCreature’s Pair
Many ancient legends have reasons for why Volcanos exist, and why they spew fire and lava. Some said that it was when a certain god became angry that they erupted, while some literature (mainly How To Train Your Dragon) says that it is the fault of Dragons, reminding us that they’re still around. One of the best known examples of how vulcanos explode is that of the god Vulcan (or Hephaestus by his Greek name). This god of fire and forging kept his extremely hot and fiery forges inside of mountains, and when he was working, these maintains would explode at the top. These Dragons fiery colors mixed with the black Pharaoh make it look like they are coming from lava that is just beginning to cool! Take a look at their full color range here!
Pair Lore
Roland and Lea are very kind parents. Their Hatchlings grow up well loved and cared for. However, they tend to be sheltered, since Roland is a careful parent. They often don’t even learn to fly until they are much older! Lea challenges Roland with this, since she is more free at heart, and helps her Hatchlings have fun in other ways—specifically pranking. This means that while some of the Hatchlings are quiet and self-conscious, others take after their mother’s exciting spirit and are often trouble makers.

EmeraldCreature’s Pair
The ocean is important everywhere—it is mentioned in Legends, it is mentioned in Literature, it is idealized in Poetry. No matter where you turn, there are a multitude of feelings associated with the salty sea air, the sandy beaches, and a yearning for a loved one to return. One of the most interesting examples of this is the story of Eärendil. Eärendil was a half-elf in Middle Earth, who survived many tragedies. He was a mariner, and one time when he was in his boat, searching for a way to reach Valinor, the Blessed Lands, his wife came to him in the form of a bird, bearing one of the most important jewels in Middle Earth—A Silmaril. He resolved to bring it to Valinor, even though he was not fully elf and there could be consequences. The Valinor agreed to send aid to Middle Earth, which was another reason Eärendil had gone, and gave him and his wife the choice to become either entirely Elvish or entirely Human, as they were half-bloods. They elected to remain immortal, but because they had set foot on the Blessed Realm, they were unable to ever return to mortal realms, and were destined to sail forever in the sky as stars. It must have been very difficult for Eärendil’s wife to wait for him on the shore, yearning for his return, watching the Raging Tides. Eventually, she came for him instead, and they were able to be together for eternity. These Hatchlings are reminiscent of the Raging Tides, lapping around someone’s feet, as they stare out to sea. Their colors are here!
Pair Lore
Baikal is a very quiet father, while Arwen can be critical of others. This means that many of their Hatchlings grow up feeling under appreciated or as if they will never measure up. This isn’t true—Arwen and Baikal both love their Hatchlings dearly—but there is much fighting in their Den. Many of the Hatchlings, feeling smothered by the somewhat oppressive atmosphere leave to find a home free of arguing and criticism.

Irador and Artemis. The ultimate romance. They completed each other perfectly: Irador was the disowned Prince of a Nature Kingdom, and Artemis was a powerful Arcane sorcerer.

Of all the Dragons in
Eragon, none is more iconic than Saphira. The full range of blues and purples is available to see

Alchemy. The Medieval Art of turning lead into gold. Ultimately, it turned out that it was impossible.

Xen also values learning highly, so while they are sometimes lazy, these hatchlings are usually intelligent and have read more books than most other Dragons combined! The only time that these Dragons will get tense is when they are playing a game or in a fight–they cannot stand to lose and will do anything to achieve their goals.

Their full color possibilities are

Many ancient legends have reasons for why Volcanos exist, and why they spew fire and lava. Some said that it was when a certain god became angry that they erupted, while some literature (mainly
How To Train Your Dragon) says that it is the fault of Dragons, reminding us that they’re still around. Take a look at their full color range
