Typically, the ones who have asked for a specific pattern or color matchup get first pick since they have been waiting for a long time. (You can see Yonderly has been waiting over half a year for the gold primary, opal tert; it hasn't hatched yet.) However, if those colors or patterns are not in the clutch, then it's pretty much free game. I do take reserves (assuming that the color/pattern matchups for people waiting are not in the hatching, if that makes sense) so that you would get first pick before I ping the rest of the list, but I do ask for at least 50g as a deposit.
