Admired by all of Sornieth from afar for its beauty, its mysterious, its infinite star-like nature. For many dragons it was a thing of beauty, but Martin and his clan knew better. It was a place of untold horrors, of whispers in the dark, of not-quite familiar faces in the shadows, of insanity and desperation. If the universe were to be bottled up, if it’s infinity were to be captured and controlled, it would develop into the Starwood Strand. And maybe that’s what had happened. Maybe the Arcanist tried to bottle the universe and simply made another horrible mistake.[/size] [size=6]M[/size][size=4]artin had wandered the beautiful wasteland for years, his thoughts running wild and standing still at the same time. Though countless dragons had lost their minds in those brightly lit boughs, Martin had maintained his sanity and though he didn’t know how, he hadn’t bothered to question it either. He loved his clan, all of the dragons that lived and breathed in the space they all loved and called home, but there were times were those star-like trees called out to him and he would wander into their depths. They would embrace him the way a mother would her child. Sometimes he would spend days in the Strand, his only companion the whispering of the leaves and the monsters lurking within.[/size] [size=6]F[/size][size=4]ew understood his interest and yearning for the forest. Rhyo, a companion he had befriended in the clan, understood him to a degree. She frequently ventured into those forsaken woods to rescue dragons who had become lost and forgotten, bringing them back to the clan in an attempt to heal them. Rarely were they healed from the loss of their minds, but the clan could comfort them as they rested for the rest of their days. They spoke of that connection to the Strand in whispers, hushed tones at night when no other dragons could overhear them. Even she did not fully understand the connection he felt with the Strand, couldn’t understand that unwavering pull on his soul to be in those woods.[/size] [size=6]E[/size][size=4]clipse was more understanding of his connection that other dragons had been. She listened intently when he spoke of that pull on his soul, on the experiences that he had in the woods, the way that the wind and trees would whisper to him. She never shared fear of him entering the Strand day after day, never expressed concern that he would one day be another dragon brought back to the clan by Rhyo, his mind having departed from him and never found again.
