Four red eyes, beady with hunger and desperation, yet still unreflective of the true trained calm within. Amini was once such a... Blinded, creature, one who looked only forward to the next day before it almost lost its match and mate, Kerwyn. Two mirrors, the truth was- two mirrors and nothing more, travelled together until a brief separating to hunt turned into disaster. In its hunt, it found a burrow just their size. They found it already occupied by a snarling, wounded and festering mess of that familiar mirrored face, Kerwyn, too far gone in the hands of death to fight back and too delirious to know Amini by sight. Their crafty intelligence was put to good use alongside the larger and rasher brute of a wounded companion, fixing them back up to health with a mixture of excessive feeding and particularly quickly healing plagueland plants, mashed into the wounds to make scale and skin regrow. It could only see itself now as a blind fool, as intelligent as it ever was to try to use such plants- They never realized that in order for anything to survive in a desolate land like those plants did, that thing first must be [I]infected.[/I] It had taken the spined plants and oozing branches and infested the more powerful mirror with a toxic concoction of just the right [I]divinity[/I] to call a miracle from their own twisted mother nature... Which meant in the night, four weeks after the caretaker had settled into the routine with their patient, that the patient's shoulder wound grew a second set of teeth. All the more to pay back its dear healer in kind... In order for something to be [I]infected,[/I] it first had to [I]bleed.[/I] Luckily, Kerwyn was recently equipped well for the task; what with its second head and longer claws, larger size and five eyes. Amini was the second to be bathed in the acidic, weakening concoction of the Plaguebringer's own design, massaged into bite marks and tears. It was the second to be a confused and desperate mess, weaker than it had ever been and at the mercy of a creature who almost seemed [i]sadistic[/I] when it rocked them to sleep. It was the second to be [I]fixed.[/I] For years, even decades ever since, the connection between them forged in wounds and sores has never ceased. They each put their lives in each other's hands and ended up with a fifth eye, another mind, another soul to spend for a life the devil tried to take in the days of weakness. Each dragon forgave the other for the pain. Still, as she took down her third beast of the woods and devoured it near-whole, she worried over being away from little Sunny… The anxiety of the massive red beast was only heightened as the shuffling of feet that weren’t her own, and the feeling of eyes outside of her head, overtook her hunter’s senses. Whipping around, tail sending up a spray of leaves, there was… nothing there. But she stayed still, watching, scanning over the trunks and forest floor. Her wings unfurled, a giant making herself seem even larger in the case where it might be another dragon… A hiss from above gave her only the time for her neck to turn upwards before a heavy weight smashed into her lower back and sharp thorns stabbed into her scales. Teeth tugging and tearing at one of her spines, hind claws bracing the attacker on her back and front ones trying to grasp the chinks between each scale, and the shaking of bushes to the side clued Alpha into the real scene here; an ambush. Her wings shot outwards, hitting tree trunks on either side of her as she yowled and spun, trying to whip the smaller dragon off her back- only for it to stay clinging, and to set eyes on another rushing mirror from the underbrush leaping to grab onto her wing’s membrane, to tear it apart as wind does a sail. Before the second’s claws drove themselves into her wingspan’s base, she caught sight of his eyes and colors, recognizing the worst case scenario- that would be Echo, and on her back was likely his brother Scout, both of them a threat in their own rights. Echo followed through her movements, claws stabbing right through her belly’s plating and drawing blood to splatter the leaves below. She was already taking wounds left and right, still not wanting to hurt her clan mates murderous as they may be, murderous as they certainly were based on the horrible, bone-chilling look in their eyes. Her choices were to die or run, and only one of the options would let her see Sunny again. As the mirrors dove to cling to her limbs and scrabble up her like cats, she opened her wings and leapt for the air, membrane getting caught in branches as she took off from standing into powerful flight with her opponents clinging to her legs. She forced her way through the branches and leaves, knocking younger trees over with sheer force and dragging the mirrors behind her. Echo released after getting a branch to the face, and Scout detached with a hiss as she kicked him away and back down with his brother. It would have been easy for them to follow her trail of oozing blood as her huge wings took her farther and farther into the sky, above where they could fly. It would have been easy if they’d been tasked to hunt her to the edge of the world; but, as she figured and they knew, Acriuss’ command was likely not as far reaching as would have been required. Still, they followed her to the very edge of the woods, giving her no choice but to place herself in exile from her homelands… Exactly what she’d wanted, at a cost much too high for her to afford; the cost of leaving Sunny behind. The first thing she actually remembers is waking up on the steps of a ruined library in the light domain, alone, atop a hill of dead flowers on sun-warmed marble. Fully clothed in her gear, with a bag holding nothing but bug crumbs from supplies run out. She doesn't let this be known often... This mystery of origin. She tries to forget, move on with half a story in her head and the loose threads still hanging. So, since her beginning, she has had powerful floral and plant based magic following her footsteps- literally. If she stands in one place for too long, it grows flowers and tall grass. Taking up residence in a place, no matter how desolate, will grow a forest in mere months. If she wills her body to wrap itself vines, they sprout from under her scales and do exactly as she commands. The oldest of trees will bow to her; the flowers will give up their lives to cover her wounds with petals and seal them shut. She uses flowers to bind wounds together and heal them without pain or fuss, and cultivates the plants that travel alongside her as much as she can. But why? Why does she have such control, why does it seem to have no limit? Why does she never tire from use of her spells, and why was she so powerful, and why had she woken up on those steps? Why does she feel such an urge to keep moving, even when life grows soft and easy in one place as her comforting home landscape manifests itself before her eyes? Why is she so [b]kind[/b] in such a cruel world?? Her residence in the Fractallian planes was originally a secret, with her finding refuge in a snowy burrow after flying with the winds for far too long and far too far away from the mainland. The nearby dragons didn't know she was there until saplings popped up from the ground across half the landscape; and after demanding an explanation, she offered her powers to meet their whims in exchange for safe living space. Said dragons- Tarmeux, Vercada, and Tumi- agreed, seeing the benefit in creating a habitat for prey and dragons to better thrive in. She's stayed among the snow in her personal taiga for a few years, now, and completely changed the landscape of the plains. Tall conifers protect pine needle-covered soil from being buried in snow, and small critters have sprung up from seemingly nowhere to populate her forest. Without her living in the Fractallian plains? Most of the dragons there wouldn't have enough food to feed themselves. She is the keystone of the clan. The itch to fly into the setting sun hasn't ceased, and grows more worrying by the day... Her only binding to this home, despite how much she loves each and every drake she lives around, despite her love of being needed and wanted, are the passerby and lost dragons she takes into her care. The excitement of a new friend, a new comrade, a new love- it sates her heart's wanderlust enough to stabilize her. What would happen if she ran out of places to go? What would happen if she found what her subconscious demanded she seeks? Well it's about the journey, not the destination- right? Things might have started just slightly rocky, but it didn't take long for those ice dragons to warm right up and be friends! And Tumi- the water one, still an adolescent when she arrived and fascinated by her. His eyes were always swinging, taking in everything... How lovely~! Every new dragon that moves in just gives Matir another friend and person to care for, and she loves every second. She also tends to most of the hatchlings born from the Fractallians, almost like a communal aunt. They all love her in return; she is the only one that could claim to get along with [b]everyone.[/b] [nextcol][center][b]Relations With The Subterrainian[/b][/center] The more the merrier! Why should she assume these underground dark dragons are dangerous? They're dragons, just like the Fractallians and just like anyone else in the world! They all have so many scars, seeming like they've been through so much... As long as they don't hurt her clanmates, they'll be just as close to her as all the native ice dragons! Baasim in particular makes lovely company, able to brew tea out of cavern roots and fungi. Her motherly attitude is greatly enjoyed as the two sweethearts often babysit for the Fractallians' hatchlings.[/columns] [center][b]An Easy Romantic[/b][/center] Maybe it's a bit greedy of her, but for Matir to handle her cursed wanderlust, she needs any reason to keep herself in one place, any tie at all. Love is one of the things that keeps her down, hatchlings and mates, even as they are just travelers passing through. She's easy to fall for and easily falls in love with any poor soul that finds themselves lost in the Reclaimed Glacier, sometimes even seeking them out to rescue and leaving algae blooms in the snow whenever she lands. It's been working quite well, to have this revolving door of mates and hatchlings- but she knows, it can't hold her here forever. No, nothing can... [center][b]Dragons and Beasts, Each With a Soul[/b][/center] Matir's kind and bubbly personality stems from a lot of empathy and joy in others- and that joy doesn't stop with just the conscious ones, or even the normal animals. She'll coo and care for a baby bird just as well as a hatchling, and checks in on the local populations within her forest. Even for beastclan members inside her small taiga, she holds a fondness and care. She could really, and does really, get along with [i]everything.[/i] She is in turn beloved by so, so very many in return, from dragons to beastclan members to normal animals to the forest plants themselves! She is seen like an aunt or second mother to all the hatchlings of the Fractallians, since she will care for them for however long their parents need; plus, what kid wouldn't love a day trip out to the woods to climb trees, fight each other with sticks in their mouths, snack on birds when Matir isn't looking- [i]Shh!
