The one that walks alone
through the rain and cold
through the silence and the snow
quietly
gently
And sits at the base of the oak tree
at the base of the tree that
stands on its own
On the lonely hill
to escape the babble
to escape the masses
to escape the neverending highway
of life
And to spend some time alone
to think for themselves
to listen to the silence
to enjoy the rare bliss of solitude
Because when you’ve
spent all your years
talking
meeting
greeting
seeing
You grow weary of it all
and you grow weary of the faces
that talk at you, shout at you
fill your head with worthless nonsense
And you decide to ignore it all
tune it all out
empty out the dust
and pave your own path
walk your own road
Perhaps alone, perhaps solitary
but never dependent
and forever strong in no one
but yourself.
