The lair pulsed violently with every step he took. It shook him to the core, compelling Eider to weave a protective spell around the shade, gathering its tendrils even tighter about him. A fae, as murky as the shadows protecting him, floated just beyond the entrance. She too weaved a spell. By the time he realized what it was, it was too late. Eider gasped as the shadow turned against him. It no longer sought to protect him. Instead the tendrils floated upwards and became serpent like.
