It's so lovely to finally see Banescales receive some far-needed attention, though, the addition of Monarch does seem slightly ill-fitting. I also agree with others with the disappointment of how small the tertiary Spines look. I'm happy they're now an option, but they're quite difficult to see.
I personally love how small Spines is, it's a nice little accent! Plus, we have Fans, Porcupine, and their natural spines for big spikes. Also, I love pretending Spines on babies is just the tiny development of Porcupine lol
That's definitely an interesting idea- for hatchlings, Spines actually does look good. I suppose I was expecting something a bit bolder, but with Banes already having Porcupine, I can understand a little bit more why the variation is effective/necessary. Also, what a beautiful scry!

Banescales are a huge fave, so this is great to have more options. Will have to make some room for a breeding project soon.
@/DemonicDuchess i'm guessing it's not arbitrary, but in fact to give people two months' notice since today is May 24!
I suppose...? I just don't see how a rarity change needs a two month adjustment period. They don't do that for gene errors people like or story changes.
i would hazard a guess that because they're working on the gene rarity for several different breeds they might also be giving people a grace period because of nesting/breeding projects which will be impacted by the change and this is a good chunk of time in case they decide they need to revamp a few other genes as well
Ya, a lot of peeps were angry at the sudden change of spines with no warning the last time, so I'd say they are giving plenty of time for peeps to change genes on pairs & to try and avoid as much backlash and hostility as possible.
