It is common to underestimate Rapture. It is not that he is assumed to have no talent as a fighter, but more he is expected to be a mage of some sort rather than a frontline fighter who uses his teeth and claws to cause harm. Despite being a Fae born in the native flight of his species, Rapture was never as well attuned to his element as most - he can use it to bolster himself, or drain the life force of others, but he could never get a solid grasp on it. Perhaps this lack of skill is why he was given away by his mother as a gift to the Node, though he never let that bother him. Though initially it was hoped he would become an Ambassador like his mother, Rapture found the training quite boring and simply decided one day of all the jobs he could have taken instead that he was going to be a fighter. There was no build up to this moment, no suggestion of any interest, he simply flew right up to Envy and demanded she train him to fight.

Now he is a force to be reckoned with. Though strong, Rapture's claws and jaw are only so big and so he has had to work especially hard in learning where to strike to cause the most harm and how to exploit specific weaknesses. The most important thing for Rapture is to use his enemies strength against them, and to end a fight as quickly as possible. It is his need to understand strategy, the hard work he had to put into his training and innate understanding of magic from his background that makes Rapture the ideal trainer for dragons wishing to learn to fight. Though he does not himself have the ability to wield powerful magic, he has been able to guide mages to use these skills on the battlefield and does not limit himself to training frontline fighters like himself.

Rapture loves what he does. He can be a bit aloof with his clanmates, but he has stuck around since the time of the Node, many moons ago and thus does care for them in his own way. Though he can be very one-track minded and struggles to tell when others are upset, he will stop and ask others about their day and happily engage in most conversations. Anyone who knows him can read his excitement in how his frills move whenever one of his pupils pulls off a difficult move, and those who know him best know that he appreciates his friends and that is why he always comes home after he disappears for days or weeks on end and then somehow shows up with a new student. The longest he has been gone is two moons, in which he returned to Dragonhome discover the clan had moved on to Mossgarde. Though they had left him a note, and Envy returned often to check if he had returned, Rapture decided the now empty lair was the perfect place to train his new student, (unnamed) and so elected to delay his move to the Viridian Labyrinth. When he eventually showed up in Mossgarde, his only response to his friends concern was whoops, I let time get away with me a bit there, didn't I?
