Kaflanii is a brat.

Look, someone needs to say it. If the kid has a deeper level, I've never seen it. She plays other dragons to her advantage, and always puts the least amount of effort that she can get away with into everything she does. Her mother says her faults are because she's "smart." She says this while crooning and implying that the rest of the world can't keep up with the kid's fast and intellectual brain.

No doubt she is smart. She's on the austronemy team after all. When Feanor gives her a research project she probably pursues it with gusto, as in, an evil flicker in her eye and and a lazy shrug and then tricking someone else on the team into doing all the tedious stuff for her.

It's not that no one else notices. Everyone does. How can you ignore her toxic personality when she's degrading to everyone and will flat out mock you to your face? She's a first class cynic. A champion whiner. No one's ever made her grow up and my guess is that no one's ever going to.

I'm not sure how Lucifix can stand her, though he's a bit of a cynic too, so maybe they just lie about and shoot insults at the world in general, I don't know. Maybe their negative outlooks feed off of each other.

For all her acting about being lazy all the time though, she actually is a fireball of energy. If she gets mad enough, she can fire off a list of all the ways you're wrong while twisting in rapid circles around your head, until her voice is coming so fast you can't understand it and her body is moving so fast you can't keep track of it. If she thinks it would be amusing to beat someone to something, she can beat pretty much everyone else in the clan in a race. If she has a task she's actually interested in, she'll get it done in half the time anyone else could have done it in, which is probably why she thinks she's better than everyone else. She downs a couple of cups of coffee a day, she just only puts that energy where she's interested in putting it, not where anyone else, you know, might tell her to put it, or even hint at a direction...

Except when it comes to Feanor. She actually does respect him. She still pokes fun at him but the pokes don't have the same stinger. And she never mocks Lucifix. She spends a lot of time hotly defending him, actually. She's got an insanely good ear, and it's almost like she can smell when someone just has a bad thought about him.

Which is why no one dares say anything about her outloud. Hard telling what she'd do if she heard anyone insult her. Never mind that she seems to have made a career out of judging everyone else's every single move... And then of course there's her mother. No one dares say anything even slightly negative about Frayda's children. She'd have a fit of nerves and she'd never forgive you.

Have you gotten the clue that I don't like the kid? I don't like the kid. Not many dragons do. Maybe she'd feel a little less alone and misunderstood by the world if she wasn't so above dipping a toe in it.
