Although she looks the part, Mimic is not from Sornieth. Well, she is, but it was called Earth back then. She was something called a human, but her kind are something of a myth nowadays, and a sacrilegious one at that. Mimic's been hit with a lot of bad stuff, but setbacks happen and you gotta keep moving forward, right?

Mimic still remembers the night her life was thrown completely out of her control. The air was saturated in a thick, white fog and lit by the full moon. The result was gauzy and ethereal and gave anyone in the midst of it their own separate bubbles of privacy. Thinking back on it, Mimic figures he chose this night because of the dramatic atmosphere. What a square.

She should have turned him out for being so strange, like he was acting in a play. He spoke like he was reading lines straight out of a script, emphasizing words and throwing his hands around like an excited croupier. As she was wiping down the counter to her bar, "The Queen's Pleasure," she heard the door swing open and looked up to see a wall of mist fall into her pub, unshrouding a figure resting against the door-frame. As soon as he sat down at the bar, he was the man of the hour. He incited every laugh, paid every tab, won every game. In the excitement, he studied Mimic; he saw her glasses resting on the heavy bags under her eyes, he saw the authority in her as she sized him up, he saw the loyalty of her regulars when someone had a drink too much.

She was interesting.

After everyone else had left, he wove his way through the scattered barstools and picked himself over piles of runaway chips, Mimic would swear he choreographed every movement he made to look as graceful as possible. He made his way top the counter and said to Mimic, after narrowing his eyes at her, smiling, and feigning hesitation, "You're going to find this... Really cool."

Having four eyes is weird.
