The Scarred Wasteland is not a kind region, and the Plaguebringer is not a gentle deity. When she places her mark on her chosen ones, they bear it hard. Sometimes it can be hard to tell the difference between the mark of her regard and the mark of her disfavor. Geri bears such a mark, and a heavy one, as the price of her favor. The Plaguebringer's priestess is covered in pustules, sores, and weeping wounds, that heal over only to break open and bleed again. But for this price, she speaks clearly with the words of the Plaguebringer's will when the fever madness falls over her, and brings fortune to their clan. In the harsh region of the Scarred Wasteland, such a thing is a small price to pay for the grace of their deity, which could mean the difference between the continued survival of their clan, and its utter obliteration. Although the members of their clan not born in the Scarred Wasteland fear her, unfamiliar with its native rot and disease that gives her such an intimidating appearance, those who were treat her with reverence. Geri came to be within the lair, as harbinger of rot. As nothing happens within the Wasteland without the Plaguebringer's notice. A temple sits in the heart of the lair, made of bones, hides, iron, and blood. A seat of power for Geri's surprisingly strong, and grotesque magic. Geri does not often leave the lair's small temple to their deity, as her affliction pains her to walk. Instead, the imperial stays curled on a makeshift throne of bone. She tends to the Plaguebringer's shrine, with its living, beating heart in the center. Some rumor the heart is hers, given up as a sign of her devotion. She uses the Plaguebringer's will, to help control the ever rampant growth of the oasis. Its blooming lush growth she finds revolting, and does her best to cull. She has an acid tongue and a sardonic mien, speaking shortly, if at all. Even speaking sometimes gives her pain, so she does so as succinctly as possible. She has little tolerance for foolish questions, and demands her due if she is not given it. The clan's matriarch, Stiletto, is the only one to whom she shows any deference, even seems to admire, and the two of them sometimes confer for a long time behind closed doors. |
