Whisper is the clan's alchemist and witch doctor. She's usually seen leaning over some bubbling cauldron, heedless of the pungent fumes, chanting quietly in an unknown language. She always speaks softly, her voice barely above her namesake whisper, and seems to take a sardonic pleasure in making uncomfortable dragons lean in closer and closer to hear what she has to say. Her throat was scarred when she inhaled the pungent fumes of a failed concoction at some point in the past, and the few times anyone in the clan has heard her angry enough to raise her voice, it has been a harsh and terrifying sound. No one is eager to anger her enough to make her do so again. There are rumors that she is blind as well, and that the eye-covering hood she wears almost constantly hides eyes ruined and scarred by the same burning fumes that ruined her voice. Although she is usually even-tempered enough, Whisper demands respect for her work. Should she feel some dragons has slighted her, such as when she catches anyone speculating about her blindness or her odd rituals, she'll lock herself in her brewing room and turn out nothing but poisons, bitter potions, and foul vials of burnt sludge. Stiletto keeps a special stash of the sour and murky potions for dragons who have received her signature punishment but still need to be healed enough to get back to their work. However, she'd rather keep her alchemist happy, and disciplines those who upset her, It's recommended to keep Whisper happy for other reasons too. They've seen her throw creatures still alive into her rendering pot to be boiled down, and she's several times remarked that it's big enough for a dragon to fit in, if you break most of the bones first. Whisper is also rumored to be responsible for two Pearlcatchers who roam the lair. Both with tasks of disposing of carcasses. She blankly denies even knowing they reside within the lair, however... An extremely obvious lie, though lair members know better than to press her on even the most obvious falsehoods. |
