Macabre had never wanted to be a warrior, not really, but her skeletal, gory appearance railroaded her into it from a fairly early age. Macabre took pride in what she did-- she believed in taking even jobs she didn't like seriously-- but she gained the reputation for leaving enemies alive. "true strength," she often said, "Is sparing when you have the opportunity to take everything from someone." She inadvertently lived up to her name by maiming instead of killing.

She was the one who'd convinced their captain to spare Bartholomew's life. Her greatest friend in the company had been the beautiful then-Nocturne. She had been the one dragon who'd shown a genuine interest in making him feel better but no ulterior motive for it, and he'd desired her for it. When she rejected him, he'd flown into a fit of anger, and they'd grown apart... but the loyal Guardian reasoned to their old captain that he'd die soon anyway, and it would kill him slower if he was left to die. It was really an attempt to save his life, and the fact that Bartholomew lives validates her decision to try to have him spared.

Macabre works as Knifehead's sous chef, which puts her in close contact with Bartholomew as well. She's picked up a number of hobbies, including painting and chicken husbandry, and her claws are usually covered in paint or spices. She smells of spices and freshly-baked bread most of the time, and is a favorite for those who can get past her scary appearance. Macabre doesn't have an unkind word to say to or about anyone, and for those who can get past her scars, her gory-looking pattern, and her messed-up-looking face, she has a heart of gold and a knack for listening.

She can fight, but she's happier to have a job making others smile. Macabre's injuries, including a head injury that healed wrong and gives her frequent dizzy spells, prevent her from flying far. She sometimes has trouble with memory recall, and occasionally she spaces out, but Millie has said it's not getting worse and it would be too risky to treat. She's a good dragon who's good at what she does, and the rest of the lair is happy to have her helping with their food.
