Valentine has always been an outcast among his peers. Having felt betrayed by the Gladekeeper for reasons he's never disclosed, he fled from the Gardens as a dragonet in order to forge a life for himself in the land of the Plaguebringer. After hearing about the Necromancers and their Trials, he threw himself into fervent worship, eventually meeting and befriending Radiance.

Radiance was able to stand up for him when the Necromancer council looked down upon him for his origins in Nature- especially due to his multi-gaze. Having grown inseparable, the two of them decided to face the Trials together.

Radiance survived, in true Mirror fashion, emerging as a Necromancer. However, despite his devotion to the Plaguebringer, Valentine entered the ranks of the Necroservus. He'd quickly decided to work under Radiance, whom treated him as a friend and equal despite everything.

It was a surprise to no one when Valentine developed Lovesickness. His internalized doubt festered and bloomed as pink stripes along his wings and spine, fueled by his eternal devotion to the Plaguebringer- and by his hatred of his Nature birthplace. His fervent worship is exactly why the Council decided it should be he and Radiance to investigate rumors of a strange time-worshiping cult...
