GK Penny (Old English – ‘pledge’)

Clan Role – Lore Master of Science, in charge of guiding and supervising any clan members who seek knowledge about the physical world. Head alchemist with the following advanced Lore Seekers of Science students training and researching under her:

Mate - Xocolatl. Like most dragons in the SaF clan, Penny was, at first, required to breed with a dragon of Morgul’s choosing to produce hatchlings that would increase the standing of the clan. She excelled in this task with her first clutch but was very unhappy with the mate chosen for her. However, one of her first hatchlings was so distinctive a prominent lightning clan offered one of their brightest youngsters in exchange for the hatchling. This was Xocolatl, and once grown Penny was instantly drawn to the fellow snapper dragon for his intellect and enthusiasm for studying and experimenting. Morgul quickly permitted them to become life mates, the stability their relationship generated enabled much progress in the clan’s scientific achievements, and they have the longest mate bond in the clan to date.

Family – None of Penny’s children to date have remained in the clan, all have either been exchanged with other clans or trained to serve the Flamecaller. Penny would like to have one of her and Xocolatl’s children remain in the clan one day, but she is so occupied and happy performing her studies and experiments alongside the other clan scientists that she does not dwell on it.
Leoni is her full blood sister, from the same clutch born in the Viridian Labyrinth far to the north, and both came to the SaF clan together. They are extremely close despite their different temperaments, they were both born impulsive mirror dragons but Penny was scrolled to a snapper early on and has developed the thoughtful mindset common in the breed. Through Leoni, Penny is aunt to many members of the royal line including Dagorlad, Belfalas and eight of their descendants. Penny often acts as a sounding board for their fears and worries, their royal status often setting them apart from the other clan dragons. Finding a royal line member chattering openly to Penny while she stirs up a new brew is a common sight in her workshop.

Bio – Penny is deeply interested in acquiring knowledge, like many snapper dragons. She is slightly self conscious of her start in life as a mirror dragon, and she subconsciously feels that she must work hard to make up for her lack of interest in studying while she was young and tearing around with her sister Leoni. Pairing with the scientific genius Xocolatl was one of the best things to happen to her, with his affectionate support she has become a strong scholar, earning the rank of Lore Master of Science in the clan. She pioneered a whole new area of science for the clan to explore, alchemy and now is the clans best potion brewer, constantly experimenting to find new, useful concoctions.
Penny, as a nature-born snapper, is extremely gentle and caring and is a popular dragon in the hot-tempered SaF clan. Any dragon can approach her and many frequently do to talk things over that are troubling or exciting. She keeps many secrets, and her excellent memory means she can keep track of all the intertwining tales the various clan dragons tell her. She prefers to keep all this information to herself, for the peace of mind of those who talk to her, but on occasion she has gone to Shadow (Dhiona’s assistant, who monitors the clan’s mentality and potential problems) or even Dhiona herself to try and head off severe confrontations.
Penny has an assistant, Alabras, who is a Lore Seeker who has chosen to try and learn alchemy from her. She also supervises the headstrong young alchemy Lore Seeker Mandrake. Together they are the only three alchemists in the clan thus far, so are often in each others company discussing theories and experiments. Penny’s other friends include many of the other Lore Seekers in the clan, including Morgana, Valarauka, Tyrion, Cinder Ingot and Aspall. She is also on very good terms with Dhiona and the clan’s other Lore Masters, Pietro, Sardonyx and Achilles.
