Xnaps

Xnaps was one of Spanx's secret magic experiments. He appeared in the woods early one suspiciously clear morning; Silias saw him and tried to give chase, but Xnaps was strangely fast and had an impossibly low body temperature. When he arrived in the main camp, Spanx greeted him with a wide grin and dubbed him "Xnaps". Curiously, they haven't been seen together since, but Spanx's mood has since quite improved.

Xnaps is not well liked. He's encountered only around corners and in dark allies when it is least pleasant, like a lost spirit. Some say that's what he is. When he speaks, his voice is a disturbing caricature of Spanx's. He tries sometimes to hold conversation, but he has an unsettling and uncomfortable habit of slowly moving toward whoever he's talking to without regard to personal space.

Charlemagne, usually a benign observer, has an innate and intense hatred for Xnaps and avoids him at all costs. The mages have a slightly better understanding of his significance and are collectively wary; the unnamed soothsayer spits at his name. Mamoru knows he had a hand in Xnaps' summoning and knows exactly what he is, and so to him, Xnaps triggers an intense, inconsolable guilt. Perhaps out of mercy, Xnaps leaves Mamoru alone.

Nobody is plagued by Xnaps more than Rayjack. Xnaps is usually uncomfortable but not malicious, but to Rayjack, he says things to make her angry or guilty. He visits her more, too, than just dark allies; he's liable to appear wherever she's alone, and sometimes she sees him in a crowd. She could use magic to ward him off, but would rather solve whatever root poroblem that compels him to torment her so. Still, it wears her down.
