When Combustiere was still young and soft, she had a habit of adopting other clans' castaways. (Vagabond refers to these few as 'pity cases'.) Many left, but not all. Not her little moth.
Jan is a gorgeous example of his breed, but he is painfully shy and does his best to stay out of the way. He isn't the most intelligent creature, either, bless his heart. Don't expect to finish a conversation with him without him losing track of his train of thought at least once. Despite all these faults, though, he is one of the kindest dragons to ever walk the Ashfalls, and would more than happily give the last of his food hoard to a hungry passerby.
He spends the majority of his time roosting on the back of his mate, a flowering mountain of a Guardian named Song.
