Ramhi came to the Sunbeam Lanternhouse as a hatchling with no knowledge of his Avariel heritage. Clumsy and uncoordinated as hatchlings so often are, he betrayed no hint of the grace and dexterity that Bladesingers are famed for. He was insatiably inquisitive, however, and immediately latched onto Schuyler for his wide-ranging (not to say eclectic) wealth of knowledge. Recognizing a kindred soul, Schuyler took Ramhi under his wing and set about teaching him anything he wanted to know – and Ramhi wanted to know everything.

It was under Schuyler’s tutelage that Ramhi discovered his heritage, as deep in its stacks, the Vault’s library contained all kinds of esoteric knowledge.

Ramhi took off for Waterdeep immediately, as eager to learn swordplay as he’d been to uncover the most esoteric knowledge known to dragonkind.

Now grown into his limbs, and confident he’d take to the rapier as he did to books, Ramhi was all bravado when he arrived in Waterdeep. He picked fights with other novices – but they quickly put him in his place, because it turned out that Ramhi did not take to the rapier. He found it too light, too flimsy. And the more touches his fellow novices scored on him, the more blades Ramhi shattered.

The blademasters set him to strict discipline and tried him on other weapons, but he took to none of them. He was about ready to go home in disgust and forswear his place in the Avariel lineage when he was set to the quarterstaff. He didn’t take to it, either, but here was a weapon that he wanted to get better with. The discipline that he’d chaffed under before was now his best friend; he willingly got up for dawn practice and undertook a rigorous strength-training regimen.

With regular practice, Rahmi’s skill steadily increased. He returned home a proud master of the quarterstaff… and discovered that The Twins would take no lip from a young whippersnapper like him. He’d been so absorbed in Schuyler’s books, and then he’d run off to Waterdeep without a second thought, that it hadn’t occurred to him that his expertise might intrude on someone else’s established domain. (And to his chagrin, he discovered that The Twins were Schuyler’s older siblings, and he wasn’t the slightest bit interested in taking Rahmi’s side in this little standoff.)

He retreated as gracefully as he could and decided he’d had enough of being an idiot. With the discipline he’d developed learning the quarterstaff, he set about learning diplomacy.

That investment paid off when it came time to have hatchlings, for by that time he'd discovered he was gay. He chose to have one nest for the sake of his lineage - and it didn't hurt that fellow Avariel Eladrin had stopped by on his travels. They raised their hatchlings together, and when the Skydancer continued on his way, Rahmi gave him a jar of honey to remember him by.

For these days, Rahmi is much more likely to be found wielding a honey dipper than a quarterstaff (though he makes sure to keep in form). His mate, Jarah, is the clan’s apiarist, and he welcomes Rahmi’s help collecting the bees’ honey.
