Biography

Gage
Gage was hatched to a couple of travelers who came to temporarily stay with the Clan of the Striking Bolt. When he hatched, it was noted by the healers that he had multiple limb differences that might impede his ability to live a normal life. Before they could explain to his distraught parents that he could still live a full life, he would just require some assistance, the two of them had already carried him to Cadfael.
The distressed parents offered Cadfael a large amount of compensation, and Cadfael got to work. Treasure doesn't mean much to him, but he enjoys seeing that level of desperation on his clients' face; it gives him a certain feeling of power over them. He built the hatchling prosthetic limb replacements for all four limbs, as well as wing and spinal supports to make his movements even easier to compensate for the weight of the artificial limbs. The hind left leg required an extra level of support, so, using the hatchling's own pearl as a power source, Cadfael built him a special wheel to propel himself along.
Gage's parents regretfully chose to leave him behind with Cadfael so they could continue their travels; it was nothing against Gage, but rather, a choice they made so Gage's prosthetics could receive regular maintenance from their creator. And Gage was more than happy with this choice; after Cadfael gave him his artificial limbs, he grew to idolize him entirely.
Cadfael inspired Gage to enter the world of creating prosthetics for himself. Now, just as Cadfael did for him once, Gage builds prosthetics for other disabled dragons who need a little extra help. He enjoys providing the same support for others that was given to him, and nothing pleases him more than being able to help others who he sees himself in.
When not building prosthetics for others, Gage likes tinkering with his own prosthetics, much to Cadfael's chagrin. Cadfael would rather Gage not mess with the prosthetics he carefully crafted for him, but Gage likes taking them apart and putting them back together again to see if he can make them even better. Improving on Cadfael's genius handiwork is hard, and yet Gage is confident he can do it anyway.
Gage enjoys rolling around on the wheel Cadfael gave him, and does a lot of tricks on his wheel. When he's skating around, other dragons are sure to clear a path; since he only has the one wheel, he's not entirely balanced, and is very likely to spiral out of control.
Idolizing Cadfael, of course, means that Gage is one of Cadfael's biggest supporters. His bright and confident personality means that he's usually the first to speak up when someone is critical of Cadfael. He fiercely defends him, and is entirely unwilling to bite his tongue. While Gage is usually very cheerful and optimistic, his anger when someone criticizes Cadfael, no matter how small, is terrifying.
