Biography
Elbereth came to this clan a long time ago, when he was very young. He wasn't sure how to feel about it. All these dragons were... weird. Their traditions changed at the drop of a hat, and members came and left constanly. He never knew what to expect from them, and never knew where he stood.
He did his best to get along- Sariah guided him at first, and he even had a clutch with her- but soon enough, she felt the call to serve the Lightweaver, and he was left on his own. He was close to Melorra for a while, but their needs and interests didn't match well at all, and they drifted apart.
Elbereth likes Ezekiel. Ezekiel will bring him a meal, or a parchment, or an interesting relic, and they will sit side by side in silence. Elbereth is not sure they have actually ever had a conversation? But it is a relationship that works, especially since Ezekiel became comfortable in his own skin. Elbereth enjoys resting his head on Ezekiel's fluffy mane.
Elbereth learned to manage well enough, and do his part for the clan, but he remained the only Skydancer in the clan, and fairly distant from everyone else.
...
Eventually, the clan grew large enough to move from the Mirrorlight Promenade to the Hewn City, and that's when the whispering began.
It was subtle at first, barely worth paying attention to. Distant conversations when he knew no one was around, laughter at a joke he'd muttered under his breath, quiet whispers about things no dragon should know...
And then the whisperings escalated. And he followed them into the dark...
He never tells anyone what he saw out in the Ghostlight Ruins, but when he returned, he clutched a pearl and had acquired a... guide. Of sorts. If his clanmates ask he'll just smile knowingly, and meet their questions with silence.
Helaman and Nephi narrow their eyes every time they overhear such a conversation- they know what can be found in the dark places, all the things that can be seen, and can go wrong... And they aren't entirely sure this is the same clanmate that wandered out into the dark. They are tasked with defending their clan, and whatever that thing is, they don't trust it.
They watch, and they wait.
...
Perhaps Elbereth would tell his parents, if they asked. They have been no stranger to changes, after all, perhaps they'd understand. But Elbereth hasn't seen his parents for a long long time.
