Biography
~ XANZU MARBLESHINE ~
Xanzu grew up in the Sanctum Angelus, the eldest daughter in a family that valued achievement and social status above all else. Her parents were high-powered figures in the Clan who had little time for anything beyond their careers as Keepers. From a young age, Xanzu was groomed to excel academically and socially, always striving to meet the high expectations set by her parents. Despite her accomplishments, Xanzu felt a deep sense of emptiness and a longing for a more meaningful life. Following her parents' wishes, Xanzu pursued a position amongst the leadership of the Sanctum and quickly climbed the ladder. Her success was matched by personal dissatisfaction. The long hours, cutthroat competition, and superficial relationships left her feeling isolated and unfulfilled. At 29, Xanzu attended a wellness retreat where she met Caelum, the same charismatic traveler who would later recruit Eillove. Caelum spoke passionately about the Haven of Light, a community dedicated to spiritual growth, communal living, and holistic well-being. Intrigued by the promise of a simpler, more meaningful life, Xanzu felt a spark of hope. After the retreat, she decided to leave her high-pressure role and join the Haven, seeking a fresh start and a deeper connection with herself and others. Upon arriving at the Haven of Light, Xanzu was embraced by the community and quickly became involved in various activities. Her background in leadership roles, and natural skill in the art of heling made her a natural fit for the herbal medicine group, where she found joy in learning about and using natural remedies. Xanzu thrived in the supportive, nurturing environment and appreciated the focus on personal growth and communal harmony. |
Despite the initial sense of fulfillment, Xanzu's doubts began to surface after a year at the Haven. She noticed inconsistencies in Seraphim's teachings and the subtle pressure to conform. Her once-cherished independence started to feel stifled by the community’s rigid structure. The growing realization that the community might be more controlling and dangerous than she initially thought weighs heavily on her. Her role in the herbal medicine group placed her in a position of trust and respect within the community. She found it hard to reconcile her growing doubts with the positive impact she was making. Xanzu’s attempts to reach out to her younger sister in the Sanctum Angelus were met with resistance. The community leaders emphasized the importance of focusing on the present and minimizing distractions from the outside world. This restriction felt increasingly suffocating to her, as she valued open communication and transparency. Xanzu's concerns deepened when she observed the disappearance of vocal dissenters and the controlled access to information. A close friend, Amadeus, who had shared Xanzu’s holistic health interests, began to question Seraphim's motives openly. Shortly after, Amadeus was gone without a trace. The official explanation was that he left to “pursue a different path,” but Xanzu suspected otherwise, further fueling her unease. Xanzu’s relationships within the Haven are a source of both strength and complication. She deeply values her friendship with Eillove, who shares her doubts and fears. They confide in each other, providing mutual support and reassurance. However, Xanzu is also close to other Seekers, like Tarver, who still believes wholeheartedly in the Haven’s mission. She struggles with the idea of potentially betraying their trust if she decides to leave. |
