Gabriel's joviality is something often remarked upon; he has a knack for coming up with new ways to amuse himself. He's particularly infamous for his jokes, which range from bearable to catastrophic rampages of horror. If you manage to sit through the onslaught, odds are that you'll find yourself unable to get up from your chair, as Gabriel's also a fan of tricks. No matter how light-hearted he seems, however, Gabriel can be a formidable opponent, and is completely capable of putting his jokes aside, focusing on serious matters. His intellect is not something to be underestimated.
Gabriel is also notable for his reluctance to back down from a position of authority; he can be strong-willed indeed when it comes to maintaining his position. Thus far, he's only really backed down to Sarakiel.
Background
Gabriel was born into a different world and time than many of the younger angels, created for a specific purpose: to serve the forces of good in the world. Indeed, there was much to fight, and it was no wonder that he was entrusted with such a purpose. Even at a young age, Gabriel knew what he was to do with his life, and amidst jokes he reached for his goals. Raised to be a leader, it was only a matter of time before he became a keeper of the Sanctum Angelus, a safehouse for powerful dragons that might otherwise be left to their own devices. Over time, he became known for his dominant presence there, and for the prowess of the army he led against demonkind.
He met Sarakiel when she was a mere child, pausing to speak to her as he went about his daily tasks. He was impressed by her, and the two began to talk more often. Eventually, she came to serve under him, and their relationship deepened into something that was more than friendship, but entirely different from love. They relied on one another. When she was gravely injured in battle, he made a point of visiting her bedside every now and then at times she wouldn't notice, checking up on her recovery. He's reluctant to place her upon the battlefield once more, worried that his closest friend might perish in battle.
When Lucifer became a part of Gabriel'a garrison, Gabriel's position was put on the line; even now, the two are engaged in a power struggle that keeps the entire Sanctum on edge. Confusion predominates.
