Biography

Though many believe it did, the truth is that the world did not end all at once.

The loss of the crown was a savage blow, yes. One that threw both their two worlds into chaos - the dwellers of the dark becoming aggressive monsters as the light burned their minds and hearts away; and the dwellers of the light being consumed by those poor lost souls from the other side. With the great balance broken, both worlds were plunged into chaos.

But the world had not yet ended. No, the end is looming as the world still limps brokenly on. Remnant knows the real truth: The world ends a little more every day. Every time a spark of hope dies, the breath of their world grows fainter. The true death comes not when a village is torn down, but when it is not rebuilt. When despair gives way to apathy. When the lingering ghosts relive their last hours, endlessly on into infinitely, because no one has the heart to bury their bones and lay them to rest.

Remnant, once a princess, wept for the lost until she had no more tears to shed. She did not hate their mirror world for slaying her lost subjects, for viewing them as mindless beasts. They had no way of knowing better. What she does loathe them for is the decay; the fact that they gave up on their world, and in doing so, doomed her people along with their own.

But there is a solution. A drastic one, but a solution nevertheless. These desperate times can no longer afford her the sentimental wish to keep her hands clean. Not when her people wait, huddled in shelters in the dark, for the encroaching light would burn their minds to nothing. They are counting on the royal twins to save them.

Remnant must not disappoint them.

She and her twin brother pursue the cursed Lightbringers that have abandoned their destiny and left them all to rot. She knows not why they have been cast aside, only that they have been. The heroes of the world of light are not strong enough, not brave enough, not stalwart enough, not kind enough- it could be any of those, or none of them. She does not know.

But it does not matter why. They've given up on this world regardless. They do not deserve it.

She stalks the wilderness for any traces of the cowardly recluse, following the ghosts of the dead that wail in his wake, even now pleading for his help. He must be heartless, surely, to ignore them. She never can, and it slows her down, burying them... if not for her sentimental heart, she would have caught up to the coward long ago.

Perhaps, though she will never admit it, some part of her does not want to find him, truly. Does not wish to end this mirror world to save her own - but they have afforded her no other recourse.

Claiming the two Lightbringer's power as their own... when she and Apophis do such a thing, it will snuff out the light of this world for all eternity, and those who dwell within it. But at least those of the light will no longer suffer, and their counterparts in the dark will be free to rebuild, safe in their eternal night.

Remnant will lead her people to the new dusk; she must, for the Lightbringers never will. They would leave both sides of the world to rot for all eternity, crooning for heroes that will never come.
