Anlee
Co-leader & Head Courier

"Pain shared is diminished, joy shared is multiplied. The currency here in FR is imaginary, the emotions of those playing? Not so much. You can always earn treasure or gems. The opportunity to bring joy to somebody else doesn't come around so often. It's your choice of course, but I've always found that making somebody else happy is worth far more than the cost to do so however much it is."

"Anlee," Sivera said, voice perfectly flat, "this is the third time you've wanted to talk about such things after sunset."

"Wh-- Oh. Sorry, I wasn't thinking," Anlee apologized sheepishly. "I...yeah, this would be a major change if we do decide on it; I wouldn't want to start it off when light and life is fading and all that..."

"It's fine; we're both tired. It has been an eventful day, to say the least." Sivera quirked a smile, though she quickly sobered. "Is this about Ta'veren?"

"No, no. I haven't changed my mind, but I think the visit cleared up a few things for me. Thank you for the idea, really."

Sivera nodded, months of traveling with her charge allowing her to easily read the depth of gratitude in Anlee's eyes. "I'm glad," she replied simply, knowing there was no need to say more.

-

Sunrises over her birth Flight's territory, Anlee found, could almost rival those over the Sunbeam Ruins; though she was less avid about it herself, it wasn't hard to understand why Sivera was such an early bird. Curled up in the nook they'd temporarily made their shelter somewhere high up the Reedcleft Ascent, the two of them watched the reborn sunlight spill across the cliffs and steppes below, the new day welcomed by dragons and kites alike dancing through the currents. It was a sight filled with vigor just awakening, something that made Anlee still more pensive.

"I was thinking..." she began softly, "about adventure, and the different meanings of that word."

"It wasn't just yesterday that brought this on, I take it." Sivera sounded equally thoughtful. "Is your pondering the reason we're back on the Plateau?"

"Yesterday certainly reminded me." Anlee chuckled. "But yes to both. Well...you've noticed my feelings on this topic, I'm sure. For so many of us around here exploration, adventure, is our life and joy, and I can understand that but not...enough. I do enjoy traveling and sightseeing but I want something more, and yet I contradict myself; if I wanted more, wanted to make a difference, there was no better place to start than Ta'veren."

Anlee closed her eyes briefly, pausing to gather her thoughts. tah-VEER-ehn. When she was still a fledgling she had loved the way that name rolled off her tongue and was proud of what it embodied. Even now, she spoke it like one would the name of a friend from long ago.

"I was born right into what will probably become one of the biggest adventures the Plateau has ever witnessed." Sivera smiled at this - not disbelieving and not truly amused; just an indication of understanding. "For a while after I left, I still wondered if it was because I'm simply not strong or capable enough, but I think I've gotten over it now. Mostly." Anlee huffed out a breath. "That kind of adventure... destiny, prophecies, Chosen Ones and quests to vanquish the greatest evil... sounds so very grand and awe-inspiring, but I just can't see myself as any part of it."

"But you believe you've found a kind of adventure that suits you?" Sivera prompted.

"I think so." Anlee hesitated. "Remember the last time we crossed the Lightning Farm? The give-and-get game?"

Sivera blinked in sudden comprehension. "Oh."
