Biography

Formidible Fate

The offspring of the Oracle of Doom and the Lady of Luck, Adonis' life seems to fluctuate between fantastic and horrific, with nothing in between. When he hits a strike of good luck, there is a catastrophe soon after, in nearly every aspect of his life. He was blessed with the most gorgeous features, beautiful colors and pristine feathers--yet anyone drawn to his beauty is immediately disgruntled by his utter lack of charm, bumbling about his speech and actions. Once, he managed to win a raffle, only to be mugged on the way back from claiming his prize.

Due to this, he tends to try and blend in, cause no scenes, but somehow always seems to be thrust into the spotlight. He once wandered onto Le Cirque's stage in the middle of an act while looking for his parents. Improvising, he cobbled together an act, gracefully dancing through the air with ease through different traps and tight spaces. The audience was entirely captivated--until his wing clipped the side of a pole, and he made a spectacular fall, crashing to the ground and destroying several props in the process.

Needless to say, he was not deemed a fit for the main stage. He was placed as a side worker, confined to a booth for his pretty face, warned not to speak or to do anything. He drew quite a few onlookers... until he fell asleep sitting up, drooling in an extremely unflattering way. He woke up due to the tomatoes being pelted at him.

As a last ditch effort, he was designated as someone to clean up after the acts. He kept the stage spotless for a while, staying far after everyone else had left to make sure the grounds were free of any muck.... that was, until he threw away an extremely rare and valuable item, believing it was trash.

That night, his mother Cazador came to him, tears welling in her eyes. She whispered that if Adonis stayed in Le Cirque, he would meet his doom--and soon. Cazador knew that, in most cases, fate and doom is inevitable. Her visions told her this constantly--if one fate is avoided, another worse fate often appears in its place. But despite how long it took for her to grow attached to her mate, Cazador still loved her family immensely. And she was willing to try and defy fate this time.

Cazador folded a small lucky charm into Adonis' claws. This was a present from Fauna, and they both hoped that their child would be protected by the luck, at least away from the circus. Adonis embraced his mothers one last time, and solemnly set off into the night.

He knew, if he was to defy his fate, if he would be so lucky, something catastrophic would have to balance it. But only time would tell. Two streaks of luck--escaping from the circus, and escaping from his fate--was unheard of for him. And as he fled, Adonis wondered when his luck would run out.

this was written for Le Cirque des Miserables.

Adonis caught his breath after a while of running and flying. He had fled across the land, farther than he had ever thought he'd travel, and landed near the Tidelord's domain. Ever so cautious, he kept his head low--even though there was a small chance someone would recognize him, he didn't want to take that chance. He donned a new disguise, and wandered for some time.

The charm, wrapped securely around his wrist and never leaving his sight, seemed to protect him. Any incidents of good or bad luck seemed to be mild, and unrelated to each other. He started to relax. He thought maybe, he could even find a new home...

That was, until a certain dragon recognized him, bumping into each other at the local market.

"I know you," Carnation chirped with wonder. Adonis did not recognize him, which made him all the more fearful. Having someone from Le Cirque recognize him was one thing. Having a regular customer recognize him was another. He wasn't sure which was worse.

"No, no, wait--" But Carnation wasn't able to finish before Adonis stumbled backwards through the crowd, causing quite a commotion as he clumsily fled yet again. Carnation, small and light, managed to fly above the crowd in pursuit.

Of course, this meant Carnation was able to spot a tiny gleam, and he flew down to observe. A small charm bracelet lay on the ground, and he gently picked it up in his claws. A crash ahead of him, however, alerted the small fae.

Adonis lay in a heap amongst a destroyed market stall, and the owner was very angry at him. Carnation quickly flew over, forked a bag of treasure over to the disgruntled seller, and led the still-dazed Skydancer away from the mess.

After learning that Carnation had seen him fleeing the circus, and was not a customer, the two quickly became fast friends. Adonis was grateful for the return of his charm, and Carnation was happy to help.

The two settled back into their home lair, where there have been no more incidents... for now.
