As the shell cracked open, spewing a mewling hatchling onto the sandy surface, Thalledrase shoved his nose in close.

"What do we do with it?" Ansem wondered from a safe distance.

In response, the green creature sank his teeth into Thalledrase's nostril, eliciting a startled snort from the drake as he jerked his head back. "We keep him," the mirror hissed in a low voice. "The hellion has spirit."

While Thalledrase nursed his smarting snout, Amaseth arched her head in over the grumbling dragon to watch the small Nocturne gnaw on his splintered eggshell. "Fangorn," she remarked, her deep voice tinged with amusement for her mate. "He shall be called Fangorn..."
