When she left Emberglow, Mango was no more than a yearling. Her mother and father had only migrated to the Hearth via the mating season's heated siren's call, picking each other as suitable mates for the season before returning to their respective clans. She had no interest in remaining still and only ever hearing the discordant humming of her own people for the rest of her life; she wished to travel and see the raging zephyrs of the Plateau and the brilliance of the Sunbeam Ruins. During this world-wide migration, she had hunkered down every year the heat of the Hearth sang to her, begging her to come and select a nest...and every year she was able to resist and remain where she was. But as the years passed, she grew weaker and weaker to the pleasure of the heat. Her last shreds of resistance fell away from her while in residence with Clan Revas. She, and several of the other Coatl in residence, hummed excitedly to each other as they spread their wings and leapt from the Steppes, striking for the distant glow of the Hearth. They quickly paired off during their near frantic flight, and Mango, knowing now how blessed she was to meet him, chose Morass as he chose her. Nothing came of their union that season, but they flew back to the Steppes firmly embedded in each other's hearts and souls.
After that first season, they felt the call to return to the Hearth, but knew that the safety of their clanmates was the best thing to have their hatchlings surrounded with and have been able to resist. Mango's first nest, conceived during her second season with Morass, lost several eggs to the Lord Windsinger before they had even hatched, seen in her children at Windsinger's side as the Unnamed. Her body, unused to the chill of the Steppes during her season, chilled the eggs and though they waited and waited, the eggs never hatched. She and her life-mate, Morass, wept for many moons over the loss of those eggs and refused to have any more children until they had moved the clan to a warmer part of the Plateau. However, once there and settled in, they had many more children who blessed their clan with the skills of warriors, artisans, scholars, and healers. Unfortunately, to the great horrors of Mango and her mate, many of their children have had to be buried long before their feathers ever dulled.
