*sigh* I suppose I should use this old book... My parents are always insisting I keep a written record of my daily activities... And send it to them, of course. ...Nevermind. Anyhow, the Arcanist themselves has called me to their aid in assisting with a new experiment. What an honour! Of course, I wish it didn't start so early- or that the Starfall Isles weren't so far away. Preferably both. I despise such lengthy flights- and at such an early hour in the morning! Oh well...
~12 hours later~
Here I am, in the Arcanist's own lab! How exciting! ...There are certainly a lot of wires. Mostly connecting to one box. Supposedly, the Arcanist is trying to retrieve an item/dragon/beast etc from one of our possible futures. I'm currently trying to avoid thinking about what that may do to our timeline.
~2 days later~
Apparently they're going to start the experiment now! I must admit, I am rather curious to see what comes out. But I hope they're not doing anything of high importance. I wouldn't want to interrupt them. Though the Arcanist says we will most likely be able to send them back. Oh, what's this? Steam appears to be pouring out of the machine! The experiment must have started! ...Oh, that probably means the Arcanist needs me for something.
~30 minutes later~ Well... the experiment worked, alright. A vivid crimson Aether dragon appears to have sprung out of the machine! Of course, the Arcanist is delighted that the experiment brought one of his own children into the world. I think I'll take the liberty of interviewing her once she's settled down.
~3 days later~
Apparentely the future she arrived from is one where dragons are artificially born, and their colour pre-determines their role in the world. I suggested that such a life doesn't sound very pleasant, but she seemed confused, and then pointed out that due to constant research breakthroughs, the role that she receives changes quite frequently, in ways that the modern mind can't exactly seem to comprehend. Or, at the very least, I couldn't... I don't really think she understood my original point about not having free will, though. Supposedly, the machines that make said dragons can also alter their talents, and all dragons have to set their skills to better fit their roles quite often. Currently, red dragons are gifted with organisational roles and talents. Due to this, she has an exceptional memory and is great at finding links between things. And apparently all dragons are very honest, to aid with the coherency of the community as a whole. However, she's told me that the machines aren't complex enough to create positive traits without creating negatives. She has freely admitted to having a lack of social skills and compassion. What I find incredibly interesting is that they are simply named according to their colour and "dragon number". So she's the 21st red dragon created. Apparently the community has never needed that many.
~3 days later~
She's decided she wants to stay at this current time- she won't be too missed. What's more, she wants to join my clan- and the Arcanist has approved this request! How exciting! The Arcanist and I have both made it clear that we're happy for her to leave at any time. Anyway, I've been away from my clan for over a week. I should probably get back now... who knows what they've been up to when I'm gone?
