Shaami liked to come off as kind, happy, and peppy. But she had a regret in her, a doubt she could never quash. There was always something weighing her down. She wanted people to see her as sweet, as simple and good and happy! Largely because that's what she wanted to be. But at the same time, she would get frustrated with it. Frustrated that she didn't feel that way, that her feelings weren't pleasant and uncomplicated, and frustrated that people would believe her act when she was struggling, even though ultimately she was playing it up herself. She wouldn't let people in on that circular frustration, in part because she knew it wasn't something anyone could actually be accountable for, aside from her. That as well made her irritated with herself, annoyed that even when she knew something was irrational, she couldn't help herself from falling into petty feelings.

History:
Shaami came to the Droseran Domain with her identical broodmate, Nainsi. They played there as kids, growing up and having fun together. And everything was fine, except for when it wasn't. For the most part, Shaami had a peaceful happy life and didn't think about anything outside of games and friends. But from time to time, Nainsi wouldn't play. Instead she'd hide in a little cramped space, and of course Shaami would join her, and they'd listen in on Cerise scolding clan members for not doing enough to provide for the Domain. Or Droseran and Mephistopheles comforting each other over mutual guilt. Or Berrina sighing to Camphrenie that, as they weren't members of the founding family, their work would never be as highly valued. In those moments, it was impossible not to worry about the home they'd found for themselves.
Shaami just wanted to ignore it. Go on about life as normal. Dragons in the Domain mostly seemed normal and happy, after all. They could be happy there, and that's all that mattered, really. But Nainsi was never so satisfied. She didn't like the idea of there being a cap on what she could achieve, or rules about how she had to do it that might limit her. Shaami always just encouraged her to stay grounded and be happy with what she had... but it was never enough for Nainsi.
Eventually, Nainsi said they had better just go. They were grown, but still initiates- they still had their whole lives ahead of them, and chances to put down fresh roots. Specifically, Nainsi wanted to go to the Pobblebonk Research Academy. She'd heard about it from Mochet and Sorrel, that their dad was a teacher at some big fancy school, and traveled all over for it. She wanted to chance to excel and have a life like that, one without borders. But to Shaami, it all sounded like a pip dream. One big risk to decided her whole future. Nainsi wanted Shaami to come with her. But Shaami didn't want to leave her whole life behind and start fresh, or for her sister to run off and do the same. In the end, neither of them got what they wanted. Nainsi left, and Shaami stayed.
Shaami was different after her sister left. She tried not to be- she didn't want her life to change, that was the whole point, she liked her life. But she couldn't feel the way she had before. She had been so close with her sister, they were like two halves of a whole. Now she was alone, and had to fend for herself in the Domain as she grew older and time closed in on her, demanding she find a role to fill to prove her worth.

Nainsi: Nainsi and Shaami were identical twin sisters. They were incredibly close growing up. Eventually though, Nainsi decided she didn't like the Droseran Domain and urged that they leave. Shaami didn't want to go out and try to find somewhere new after they'd grown into adults in the Domain. As such, Nainsi left on her own to pursue an education at the Pobblebonk Research Academy, leaving Shaami behind. Shaami misses her sister terribly, and feels abandoned by her, but can't bring herself to be angry. It's not like she doesn't understand...
