sporting no doubt the flashiest chamber of the tower, the illustrious illusionist howell is frequently described by hatchlings as “the coolest ever!” and by grown dragons as “certainly talented, but somewhat… grating.” stubborn to a point with an undeniable flair for all things garish and gaudy, he has always, and likely will always, do things his own way. while he hails from the sunbeam ruins (outside of aurealon), howell studied in the windswept plateau for a good portion of his youth— something you’re apt to hear about should you ever end up in conversation with him. returning to the ruins as a self-described “changed dragon,” he chose to settle in aurealon for its cultural emphasis on knowledge and host of other mages with which he hoped to exchange expertise. unfortunately, his arrogant attitude and tendency to sing his own praises have made him somewhat unpopular among his peers. cesaire in particular seems to become especially ruffled in his prescence, though howell attributes this to jealousy and doesn’t much mind it. in the face of skepticism, however, it may be worth noting that his boasting is not without justification. in the blissfully quiet moments just before he casts a spell, it becomes evident just how much love and work howell has put into mastering his craft. from his clawtips he conjures marvelous, shimmering visions that could put the very stars to shame. “may he someday soon study humility with half the tenacity he applies towards his cheap tricks,” writes cesaire. |
