Biography
╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮ C L I V E the advisor ╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯ familiars: "I am Clive. I believe that we of noble birth have a duty to use our strength to bring peace to the land." |
S U M M A R Y
Clive, a young man of the upper aristocracy and a social knight, was the first leader of the Zofian libertation army, the Deliverance. With the Rigelian army under Rudolf's lead encroaching, through suggestion of his lover Mathilda, they founded the Deliverance, along with Fernand. When Alm and his group arrived at the Deliverance Hideout, Clive heartily greeted them, grateful to them for having rescued his sister. Clive was disappointed that Mycen would not join the rebellion, but decided that, with the increasing number of commoners joining the Deliverance, he should cede the Deliverance's leadership to Alm, the grandson of the legendary knight Mycen, as he believed that Mycen's story of rising above his common birth to become a knight and count resonated with the commoners, and Mycen's grandson would be better suited to lead them. Fernand was outraged by this, and abandoned the Deliverance on the spot, rather than allow himself to be led by a common villager such as Alm. Clive is a very mellow, kind, and calm individual, however, when the situation mandates for him to be serious and imposing, he is gravely so. He sees his wife, Mathilda, as his idol and inspiration and does not believe that he is worthy of her. Despite being pushed by Mathilda as the leader of the Deliverance, he is not sure of his own leadership qualities resulting on him doubting and regretting his own decisions, and being unsure of his ability to inspire the rest of the army, especially the common folks. His humility defined him as a leader, as being able to understand the big picture and recognize his own weaknesses, allowing him to step down as leader of the Deliverance, and appreciate the potential of the common people, like Alm. While he does not judge his soldiers on their nobility or blood, he stands by the commonly held idea that there is a difference between nobles and commoners. This causes some members of the army, most notably Alm and Python, to call him out over it on the course of the war, and even though Clive became progressively more open-minded and aware of the mentality of nobility, he still stand by parts of it, although admitting he really can't relate to the common folk and that his views sometimes clash and juxtapose each other. After the war, alongside Mycen he was given command of the newly formed knighthood of Rigel by Alm and quickly was wed to Mathilda. He now does his best as steward to advise Lord Berkut as the nation's new king. G O A L S Clive's goals |
