Miles Upshur is the protagonist of OUTLAST.

An investigative reporter. From his notes, we can discern that Miles has a... charming way with words, that often comes across as more Shadow the Hedgehog than hardened cynic. Typical of one in a creative profession. In the article Red Barrels released, it's made obvious that he heavily editorialises his notes for public consumption. This hasn't stopped him from getting fired.

A skilled researcher, having recognised the ties between the Murkoff Corporation and its subsidiaries. In an unreleased cutscene, it is revealed that Waylon specifically chose Miles to receive evidence of Murkoff's experiments: he clearly has credibility outside the journalistic sphere.

Between the static and trauma, Miles found himself unwittingly twisted into being a host for the Walrider at Mount Massive Asylum. It's difficult to say if he survived the experience. Whichever interpretation you choose, Miles' body left that nightmare estate.
