Biography
Seelie
When the socialites of the clan need someone to perform at their events, whether just for fun or to entertain visiting diplomats, they’ll call on Seelie. Seelie is a beautiful dancer, with fluid and sensual movements that make the beads on her silks rattle and chime in time with the music. She is, on her own, an extremely beautiful dragon, with glistening violet scales that gleam and sparkle in the light and teasing, and hypnotic purple eyes — but dance is where she truly shines.
Seelie is a master of captivating an audience. Her every movement is carefully calculated to transfix her audience, to bring their eyes back onto her. If she finds her audience’s attention span slipping, she whirls up an illusion with her Shadow magic — nothing too major, nothing too extravagant, just an extra glimmer here or a rune there, a puff of smoke here or a flash of light there, something to refocus the audience’s eyes back onto the stage, back onto her. Her style of dance is almost identical to what we might refer to as belly dancing.
But off the stage, Seelie isn’t quite the temptress she presents herself as. She isn’t shy, persay, but she’s very humble and prefers to be with a few close-knit friends rather than a crowd. Sure, she’ll stick around after her performance to entertain her guests, and to carry on a flirtatious conversation — but that’s part of the job, that’s not who she is. After the event ends, she ducks off to her den and retreats into a corner to spend time by herself to recharge.
Underneath her sparkly and vibrant exterior, Seelie harbors a lot of insecurity that she’s not nearly as good of a dancer as dragons say she is, or that dragons only like her because of her dancing or her facade, and not because of who she really is, or that her illusory touches to her performance carry more weight than she thinks, and that they’re the only reason she can keep eyes on her.
Seelie’s on-stage persona isn’t all a facade, however; her love of glitter and makeup is no lie. Shiver is one of the few dragons that Seelie genuinely enjoys spending time with, and Seelie is one of Shiver’s favorite test subjects for new makeup looks. The two spend a lot of time together, chatting and gossiping and doing Seelie’s makeup and letting glitter rain off their scales to decorate the lair. Seelie hears a lot of high-class gossip after her performances, and Shiver is always ecstatic to hear it.
Seelie also spends a lot of time with Sugarplum, the dragon who inspired her to take up dance in the first place. When Seelie was a little orphaned hatchling, she saw Sugarplum perform for the first time, and she fell in love with the idea of dancing onstage. Although their art is not the same, Seelie’s more cultural dance isn’t as different from Sugarplum’s refined ballet as one might think, so they spend a lot of time rehearsing together, and the older, more experienced dancer gives Seelie many tips on improving her art. Seelie really looks up to Sugarplum, who she sees like an older sister and mentor figure, and looks forward to these training sessions together.
