Biography

Sonora
Sonora has always been fascinated by the desert of the Shifting Expanse, far more than her other clanmates. To her other clanmates, it was something to be adapted around, to live with, to thank for protecting them but overall nothing but a home. But to Sonora, it was something more. The desert called to her, and she was determined to heed its call, to answer, and to root out its secrets.

From her hatchlinghood, she heard its call. When Blizz would take her down to the Summerstorm Stream for her swimming lessons, she would wait for his attention to lapse for only a second, and she would flee off into the desert. Blizz would spend hours on end, searching for her, calling her name, and when he finally found her, she would be babbling with excitement about sidewinders or jerboas or a rare species of cactus she had found.

It came as a surprise to no one when Sonora announced her interest in eremology to Poxann; the only surprise was that she knew there was a word for the field of science she sought after. And now that she’s grown, she frequently heads off into the Shifting Expanse for days or weeks on end for her studies. Her focuses are in the survival methods of various desert-habituated organisms, and in the process of desertification, and she’s looking to monitor both when she’s off on her expeditions.

When she comes back, she’s often covered in sand, and it cakes itself beneath her scales. Her long periods in the desert have dried out her scales, and the combination of the dry skin and the sand in her scales have left her incredibly itchy. At home, in Electrician’s Edge, she’s often shimmying up against a beam or a wall, trying desperately to itch a spot on her back that she just can’t reach.

Spindle is a close friend of Sonora’s, and the two often combine their respective expeditions and head out together. When they head out on one of Spindle’s paleontology trips, every time, Spindle assumes Sonora will help her with the actual process of digging…And every time, instead, Sonora gets distracted by some tiny wonder of the desert, and Spindle, while exasperated, can’t help but smile.
