A mage with the particularly rare ability among his class to take a hit, Benthic is one of the least bookish mages, often journeying on his own due to pure wanderlust. While he studies various types of magic, he specializes in defensive magic which complements his large build and tough scales. The Guardian is relatively fearless, never concerned about his safety when he travels long distances and into fairly unknown areas due to his natural defense and ability to buff himself. Benthic is strong due to his size despite not purposefully training his physical strength, easily knocking other dragons over with his tail or by running into them when turning a corner. He is fairly clumsy due to his lack of self-awareness, and fails to recognize that the smaller dragons of the clan do not have the innate defense and resistance to stumbling that he does.

A bit of a yes-man, Benthic is happy to help out the more reclusive mages when he goes on journeys, often returning with herbs, enchanted materials, and artifacts. He doesn't mind the extra fetch quests whatsoever, the small trinkets not burdening him at all. Despite reading and researching across all of Sornieth, the Guardian prefers to speak in simple terms, not wanting to risk being misunderstood, his demeanor leading to surprise when a newcomer learns of his role.
