water.gif This dragon is the communicator for the Tidelord!

A communicator receives messages from their patron deity, and are to distribute these messages into the realm. It depends on the god how their communicator receives the message. Some give them prophetic dreams, while others speak telepathically. This system was created roughly 500 years ago by the Lightweaver.

My scales feel warm when the sun shines down on me. Full of vigor and kindness does the goddess of Light watch over me as I stand at this shore. I was not alone, standing alongside my companions, my friends, my family. We walked over the rocks, hopping from stone to stone, jeering each other on to take a larger gap to jump, to challenge ourselves. We were having fun, with me being the bravest one taking the largest leaps. They sung my name, a name I cannot remember. Their voices were full of joy as I took my next jump.

The wind around us howled, singing through the rocks that decorated these borders between land and sea. The sea was my home, as it was the home to the god who created me.

Long has it been since we heard from him. Many dragons tell tales like a puzzle, leaving his piece out. They no longer believe he exists, as he has not shown us any proof of life beyond the taste of death. I've spoken with Aguar a few times, his broken mood wearing me down even as I am sympathetic for his loss. I can't imagine what it must be like to never hear the voice of my loved ones.

Mine called me, pulling me further along the beach. I follow them.

Sometimes I feel the wind brushing against my scales, pushing me forth to the shore, wanting me to step on the edge of these rocks I stand on. It wants something from me, yet I am deaf to its plea. I wish it could tell me what it was.

Seagulls fly past our heads. They seem to be more properly sized with some of my smaller companions, looking more like flies when they circle around my head looking for a place to roost and scream from. I swat them away with a laugh, shaking my head. They cut through the sky gracefully, some folk see them as our ancestors, I see them more like un-evolved distant brothers from a different mother. Kin, but not the creatures that caused our existence. I know that the gods made us.

"Watch out, that rock is unstable." Somebody warns me.

I decided to take the step anyway.

I look up to see where I am. I'm still on the beach, this quiet place where no living soul comes. I'm alone. By myself. I don't know why.

The sand around my talons has lost its warmth, a cool hostility in the grains that stick to my talons. I lift my arm to shake it off, feeling a frustration wash over me like the waves from the sea. It's crushing. Why am I so upset about sand? There are worse things to worry about, such as the silence.

I gaze around, lifting my head away from this aching feeling. Something runs down my face, I can't be bothered enough to check what it is, too caught up with the rest of the world around me. I can't see the birds anymore. What is going on? Why is it so quiet? Why is the sun cold? A shiver runs down my spine when I feel the water brush up against my legs. Is the sea supposed to rise this fast?

I want to run back to the safety of the sand, but as I turn my head to look, I find that there no longer is sand. There isn’t even the howling of the wind in my ears. Everything feels wrong. I’m not sure if I am still where I was a few seconds ago.

A seashell rolls up to my claws within the water, pressing into my skin. It was a great surprise to find something here to distract me from the strange feelings of this world out here, a place I don't recognize. I lift it up, my eyes glazing over the iridescent shimmer that coats the insides of the shell. It was a beautiful item, one that I could see myself taking home to give as a gift to my mother, having her place it on the mantle to display the most mystical item in the house. I could imagine myself lifting it up to my ears, listening to the whooshing wind curling around in the shell.

I take a deep breath, feeling the urge to bring it to my ears. The sharp prongs dangerously close to my face. I couldn’t hear anything. Not even the wind or the crashing of waves, not even the seagulls I longed for.

The sun was going down. The small bit of comfort I had from my own world was leaving me. I used to watch it go down together with my mother, watching it lower into the sea as we turned around to watch the moon rise in its stead.

Now, I feared the moon.
