Biography

Lamity
Lamity is in charge of harvesting fruit in the gardens. She has a very gentle touch and is an expert at gently twisting the fruits’ stems so the fruit isn’t torn, and her harvests are never even slightly bruised. But she isn’t in charge of all harvests in the garden — only the fruits.

This is very frustrating to her, and she holds a grudge against Summercrisp for making this ruling. Summercrisp didn’t have bad intentions; she just prefers to keep the harvesting process as streamlined as possible, and it’s easiest when everyone has one task to focus on. But the fact that Lamity can only harvest the fruits is very limiting, and she finds herself without much to do for most of the year.

It’s especially irritating since the three main fruit keepers — Garia, Agave, and Berilyn — won’t let Lamity handle their product. For Berilyn, Lamity understands; Berilyn is blind and being able to differentiate her berries and tell when they’re ripe is one of the things she can handle on her own. But Agave and Garia won’t let Lamity handle their fruits because they’re too experimental, which infuriates Lamity. Do they think they’re better than her? Do they think she’s going to damage their precious produce, when she’s known for being the best fruit harvester?

When Lamity actually does have work to do — very seldomly — she prefers to be left alone to brood grumpily and grumble about how impossible restricted her work is. She’s bored by only being able to harvest fruit, and thinks the restrictions placed on her are ridiculous. She doesn’t want to talk to the other gardeners — as far as she’s concerned, they’re the reason for all her problems.
