Orevein

The vast and ever-changing nature of the Shifting Expanse has many mysteries, but this particular mystery lay far beneath dragonkind's feet. The secretive Oreveins are a new discovery, rock and sand and precious things come to life through the static magic that fills the air. It's unknown how long they've existed, or even how they came to be.

Some argue they were regular dragons trapped underground by cave-ins, now bonded to the metals and gems that filled their new home. Others say they are purely mineral, given shape and life by magic, completely alien to the flesh and blood dragons above them. Some have argued that this must be the Stormcatcher's ancient species, but their resemblance to veilspun dragons is too uncanny for this to be true (or perhaps Stormcatcher copied someone's homework).

You're lucky to see an Orevein. They spend much time underground, digging through the soft dirt and sands of the lightning domain, only really emerging at night for food. They are shy and elusive, but if you can convince one to stay long enough for a chat then they may reveal pockets of previous gems and metals that they've discovered on their travels.
