Biography

Vible
Adventurous | Brave | Caring

Vible began growing stir crazy at a young age, and to her Grandmother’s dismay, it only worsened with age. Listening to the sounds of the cave and the snippets of conversation from other clan members, she grew anxious to leave their small territory and venture out into the Great Unknown. As the weather grew colder the Elders began arguing amongst themselves. She grew scared—nothing good came from their arguing.

On the First Frost, she noticed Elder Gavern lingering near the entrance of the cave, near the ledge that dropped into the valley below. She summoned all of her courage and walked over to him, “Excuse me, Elder, but I was wondering…” she trailed off, losing her nerve.

“Yes child?” He barked. It was clear something was bothering him.

“What lies Beyond the border?” she squeaked.

“Anger; hatred of others, no understanding, and constant battle. Nothing worth seeing,” he answered curtly.

Scared, Vible turned away and retreated to her family’s nest. One of the reserved Elders made her way over and nestled down next to the young hatchling. “What lies Beyond is beautiful. Sometimes tragic, but beautiful all the same,” she purred, “Community lies Beyond. So does hate and anger, but there is deep understanding too.”

“Have you seen it, Elder Greer?” she inquired, peering up at the Imperial.

“Not for many moons, but yes child, I have. And it was worth everything it took to get there,” she answered, running a claw over the scar on her eye.

Vible felt her voice shake as she asked the question that had been on her mind all day, “Would it be possible for me to leave the cave and become an adventurer?”

“Our ways are old, stubborn even my dear child. If you must go, then feel free, but I’m afraid the other Elders will not let you return. Not if you turn your back on your clan.” Her voice was sad, distant even, and Vible felt fear for the first time in a long while. She left suddenly, leaving Vible sitting by herself.
