"S-sorry! You, you just surprised me.. th-thats all."
The earliest memories for Frostflower consist of napping with her parents and standing watch over her siblings eggs. Anxious excitement, and overwhelming joy as they finally hatched and greeted their big sister. It was a wonderful, peaceful, grateful time. But with all good times it came to an end. An abrupt, harsh end. A rival tribe razed their clan to the ground. They proclaimed the land was theirs and showed no mercy to the 'heathens' that called it home. Even the nursery was in tatters, and as Frostflower stood valiantly yet terrified over her siblings as they bled to death, a Ridgeback sauntered in. Blood stained her scales, and where malice should have shown in her eyes the child saw interest. "Come." Was all she said. Trembling, the horrified hatchling knew not what else to do. Her parents lay dead, and the moving flanks of her younger clutchmates were growing shallower. Shaking like a leaf, Frostflower followed and knew not what would become of her. ~ ~ ~ To say the Mirror is flighty was an understatement. While she would gladly assist and help with anything anyone asked it was hard to get to that point. Often she would be on her own, deeply focused on whatever task she was doing, even if it was something as arbitrary as digging a hole. Spooking her would result in a world of feral hisses and snaps, and the instantly defensive creature could hardly hear the border patrol request. But, if the requesting dragon stayed calm, Frost would relax after a few moments, and apologize fiercely. It was strange, disconcerting to some, but not that big a deal. That is, until a white Fae met her. Frost had been alone in the trees, scraping though moss and small plants in some unknown project. Shale made himself know before approaching but the female still panicked as he approached. He soothed her, assuring the female he was of no harm and simply here to forage as well. They had never met and introduced himself. There was a delay before Frost gave her name, and the two forged in awkward but peaceful quiet. Eventually Shale chuckled, watching the female as she scraped and collected things in the oddest fashion for a mirror. She asked what was so funny, and he said that it was their similarities. "Except, you should add 'flower' to your name. You're so much gentler than you appear." So many dragons acted weird around her, but this one did not. He seemed perfectly at ease. Frostflower changed her name officially not long after, and is almost always shadowed by her Fae partner. - Abused, did not get a childhood, emotionally stunted and very young at heart - Frightened of Ridgebacks, but thankfully there are none in this clan. - Only when shes with Shale does she feel comfortable enough to come out of her shell. |
