He decorated himself in bloodied bones of his enemies and various tattered pieces of their abandoned armament to act as further protection. Despite preferring melee weaponry, he acquired a Plague Tome in case he needed the long range protection. This helped complete his outfit of bones, tattered rags, and blooded paws. He was now the violence he saw in the world. He lived for the smell of fresh blood in sand and the clash of metal on metal. He had even acquired some jewels from the richer enemies he had conquered. Ares even found some companions. He found a little Corn Snake in his camp. It was strange, seeing such a new life in a hostile environment. If anything it reminded him of his own upbringing. He took pity on the small reptile, allowing it to tag along with him. This little snake was named Stalk, like Corn Stalk. After so much conquest there was still one problem he had with himself. His eyes. They always betrayed him. They were very light, practically a pale white. The rest of his scales were dark shades of red and crimson. He looked like a dragon born of the Scared Wasteland. He knew that these dragons were strong |

The now blinded Ares relied on this familiar to be his eyes. He found that he could see more around him, giving him a better advantage. He was seeing everything. Even Stalk helped him, giving him directions when walking around camp and grabbing items with its tail. He may be blind, but it didn’t make him weak. Ares hadn’t been weak since he hatched. He earned every one of those scars and every victory to his name. Now Ares was finally perfect. He had the strategic advantages, he had the look, and he had the perfect companions to keep him alive. Even if Ares moved away from the battlefield, he still kept a portion of it with him in his clothes and companions. His life of blood and anguish was not easily dismissed. It was his lifetime. He chose to live with these consequences. Instead, now that he had retired, Ares helped train other young warriors. He knew what war did to people. It destroyed them like it destroyed him. War was destruction and he was war. |
