Ever since she hatched on the night of the waxing crescent moon, Malphas has desired more. Her parents told her about the Waterdeep that her family has come from. She heard so many tales of the being she was descended from. Now all she wants is to explore and search for that world. Hatchlings are not supposed to leave the lair until they are at least 5 days old but she was determined to see the world of Sornieth and find the place of her ancestors. One night she had a very vivid dream that continued to stick with her. It was a purple and blue Fae surrounded by Arcane sigils and runes to the point they floated around her. The little Fae was guiding her through a forest that looked like none around her home. It appeared to be somewhere far away from it. Was this maybe the Waterdeep that she had been learning about? This forest seemed to be grown from magic, it must be! The Fae guided her to a clearing before disappearing. Instead there was the large statue of a Limestone Coatl that guarded the clearing.
Before she could learn more she woke up back in her den with her siblings. Determined, Malphas set off to look for this mysterious Fae in this magical forest. Perhaps there, she could find some answers about where she came from and who she is meant to be. It would be a long journey from the glimpses she caught of maps in her clan, but she couldn’t simply ignore such a dream. The journey would be difficult for a young imperial leaving her family, but she had to! This new place could help her reconnect with her roots even if it took time.
So she bid goodbye to her siblings and left in the night. She hadn’t made it very far into the Scarred Wasteland, hiding from Aberrations and fierce plague dragons who wished to do her harm before she bumped into another dragon. It was a male Skydancer who appeared to be taking some notes on the surroundings. Both yelped and asked for each other’s names at the same time.
“Why I am Expedition, one of the explorers for the Cosmos Clan.” The male Skydancer, Expedition explained. Cosmos Clan…it sounds so familiar… Malphas thought.
“I am Malphas and I am looking for a magical forest. Would you know of any?” Malphas asked sheepishly.
“Why yes of course! I come from the Starwood Strand. Seeing as you are all alone and my work is finished would you like to return with me?” He asked happily. She thought about it and nodded. The two took off into the air, Expedition carrying the young one carefully.
Once they arrived in the Strand, Malphas gasped as she recognized it. It was the place in her dream. Expedition, noticing this decided to ask her a question.
“I see you recognize this place. I am assuming that Hecate visited you a few nights ago?” Hecate? That must be the name of the Fae I saw…
“Yes I believe so. I don’t know what it means but I am hoping that it helps me find my ancestors!” Malphas exclaimed happily. Expedition simply chuckled as they began to descend into the magical forest.
