Biography
Gereye
It’s hard to be the youngest pirate on the Summerstorm Stream, especially when one of them is totally inept and one is a swashbuckling champion, while you’re just totally average. But that’s the hand that Gereye has been dealt, and he goes with the flow in this respect. Gereye has a lot of secrets in regards to his piracy and his relationship with Shoresway and Glisten, and to keep those secrets, he will draw his cutlass and the Jolly Roger just as he does every morning, and prepare for another long day of piracy.
Gereye isn’t as enthusiastic about piracy as most dragons would expect him to be. He’s the type to board your ship, roll his eyes a little, and say, “You know the drill, hand over all your valuables and what-have-ye.” He’s never actually hurt another dragon in his endeavors. If a dragon refuses, Gereye just looks at them blankly, shrugs, and says, “Okay.” And then he leaves without another word, leaving the dragon who expected a fight dumbfounded.
But Gereye does still care about piracy. It just seems that he prefers to spend his time building a reputation for himself more than he does gathering hoards of wealth. He makes it very clear to those who ask that his reputation is very important to him, and that what he really wants is for dragons far and wide to have heard of him and quake in fear at his name itself, without ever having swung his sword or fired the cannon.
He’s not lazy. Far from it. It’s just that Gereye has a very elaborate plan up his sleeves.
Gereye has his claws on some coveted knowledge, something that he knows but Glisten and Shoresway doesn’t. He knows the truth about their shared history. He knows about their shared father. He knows that the three of them are half-siblings.
And all he wants is to organize a family reunion.
Gereye has never known the experience of having siblings, and it’s all he yearns for. He dreams of the days when the three of them can sail together, a fearsome fleet leaving dragons quaking in their boots. That’s all Gereye really wants — for the three long-lost half-siblings to be a family again, to work together for the rest of their days.
But he’s also a realist, and he knows and understands that Shoresway and Glisten have nothing but hatred for each other, and would never agree to work together if Gereye asked them to, regardless of whether or not they realize they’re talking to their little brother. Gereye’s plan involves becoming just good enough of a pirate that Shoresway will ask to be taken under his wing, but not so good as to become better than Glisten, so that Glisten in turn will take Gereye under her wing, therefore reuniting the siblings.
Gereye’s plan relies on a lot of assumptions about dragons he’s hardly met. But it’s all he wants in life, and as far as he can see, it’s smooth sailing to achieve this dream.
