Biography
Auberon - French-Norman derivative of the Germanic name "Alberich," composed of alf "elf" and ric "power". Alberich was the name of the sorcerer king of the dwarves in Germanic mythology. The name "Oberon" is an Anglicized variant of Auberon, and was the king of the fairies in Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' (1595). There is a moon of Uranus named after this fey king.
Auberon's ancestors once ruled a thriving clan in the Lightbringer's domain until one day they were overthrown and vanished to the Palace of Ends in the Southern Icefields. He is the last of his line, a role that weighs heavy on him. Having escaped the frozen fortresses and deathly glacial masses of the Ice warden's domain, he hopes to honor his parents and raise to greatness the clan that took him in. He wears the crowns of his parents always, to remind him of what was lost and their all but forgotten legacy.
