I work as a vet nurse. This dragon was hatched on one of the worst days my coworkers and I have had. Ironically, I was off that day and only came in for a brief meeting. But… I so badly wish that I had stayed.

Wade - Even though I knew it was coming, nothing could have prepared me for seeing that card saying you were gone.

Azula, Nubi, Timmy, & Max - No matter how hard we try, we cannot save them all.

Max, Smokey, & Nelly - The world is an unfair place. Sometimes, you are the ones to pay the ultimate price, for things that were no fault of your own. I’m sorry, and I hope we were able to comfort you even in the end.

Nena - Nothing lasts forever. We were lucky to have you with us as long as we did, but it was borrowed time. I’ll forever miss you grouchy old gal, always trying to take a piece of our fingers with every visit.

Leo - Of all of them, yours hurt the worst. You were there nearly every day, and now we’ll never see you again. I still can’t believe that in the time it took for me to drive home after the meeting, you were suddenly gone. I wish I had stayed, if only to say goodbye to you. When I cared for you just a few days prior, I never even considered that it would be the last time I would see you. Even though I couldn’t have known the outcome, I will always regret knowing you were coming in after our meeting, yet leaving without seeing you. To think losing you was only the start of that terrible day, that we would lose four more in the span of a few hours, is difficult to believe. Rest easy, sweet boy.
