Biography
Clockwork Hornet, Type: Sandsurge
Clockwork Hornets, what are they?
Clockwork Hornets, what are they?
This unusual variant has been spotted primarily Charged Barrens, where they can often be seen patrolling the highly charged sands. Like other Clockwork dragons, one will notice they are unusually cool to the touch, and a faint clicking can be heard as they move. Hornets have been known to have the forms of Ridgebacks, Wildclaws, Mirrors, and on rare occasions, Gaolers, Aberrations, and Sandsurges.
What sets them apart from the other variants is their size and aggression. It is theorized the Hornets are acting as a defensive force of some sort. While they will not actively seek out nomads who have the sense or good fortune to give them a wide breadth, those who have drawn too close have been met with active hostility. Curiously, this aggression is only seen while the Clockwork is in the Barrens.
They are noted for their segmented form, glass-like wings, and fluid-filled capsule making up their underbellies. They seem to be able to work tirelessly, so long as the capsule is full. What the fluid is, however, is unknown.
For those whom have managed to coax a Clockwork Hornet from Barrens will find their clan rewarded with a new member that is both a fierce protector and ferocious fighter.
Factory Seconds Clockwork
Hm, something's not quite right about these Clockworks. Maybe the colors of their carapace or wings are off. Sometimes it's that the fluid filling their bellies, (when it hasn't leaked through weak-points in their shells), isn't the right color, consistency, or composition. How curious, however, despite these... oddities, they seem function as normal for a Clockwork of their typing. There is the occasional glitch or hiccup, but they prove themselves to be loyal clan members regardless.
Overcharged Clockworks
This Clockwork seems to have a wealth of energy, far more than any other of its fellows. Electricity or magical energies can be seen sparking of their gleaming shells, and seems to lend itself to the dragon's every move. They strike quicker, magic is more potent. It seems like something to be coveted, no? You'd think so.
Overcharged Clockworks need to learn a great deal of control. Younglings afflicted with this are prone to destructive bouts as they do not yet understand their strength, or the danger it can pose. So, should you find your clan now contains one of these powerful dragons, know that they have toiled long and hard to gain that hard earned control.
