Biography

Sangsorra of Sand
"She is as fierce a warrior as either of the Twins, but it's not with tooth and claw she does battle, but with a sharp, beguiling tongue and truthseeker eyes."
- Master Mandol

Long Wanderer

Ash Fall
Sangsorra was born among the high peaks of the Cloudscrape Crags, but it was not her destiny to remain there. She was flying along the coast one evening when a storm that moved south down the channel from the Twisting Crescendo struck her location and she was swept into the frozen cliffs, then across the channel to the Ashfall Wastes - coming, eventually to the short of the Blacksand Annex.

She was found there by a small clan of dragons that had recently moved into the area. Direly injured the clan took her in and cared for her, bringing her back to health. Without them she would have certainly perished, but their efforts were not entirely altruistic. Before she was fully recovered she was pressured into labor and industry by the clan who helped her. The storm and years of hard work in an environment she was much unsuited to dulled her memory of the mountains and her past.

Her service to her clan was not a slavery, but a necessity. The idea of departing her new home never occurred to her. It was not until she became friends with a merchant Ridgeback from the Lightning Farm to the east - who came by often to purchase raw materials and components from them - did she get the idea she could leave the blasted landscape she had come to call home. It was not her idea, though, but a suggestion from the merchants guardian companion.
Worldwalker
So she joined the merchant and his caravan, and turned her skills toward trading. It was with this that her sharp intellect came into focus in ways it had not been able to at the forge. She remained with the caravan for a long time, developing a taste for travel, and a mastery at negotiation.

The caravan traveled to nearly every corner of the world, excluding the difficult Southern Icefield, and the Scarred Wastelands. Ice traders were often met with in the southern regions of the Starfall Isles. Sometimes the Caravan would deal with Plague dragons on the outskirts of the Scarred Wastelands, but it was a rare occurrence. Her first friend often only joined the caravan when it made trips between his home and the Ashfall wastes, however. But Sangsorra was a permanent resident. As such she became well-versed in the dragons, and even beast-clans of the world, able to work with a wide variety of interests and personalities.

Forbidden Lands
Sangsorra had traveled the world over, but there was still one place she had never been, and it gnawed at her - like an empty place in her heart. When she could stand it no longer she left the caravan on one of their rare meetings with Plague dragons, negotiating a guide to take her in to the Plaguebringer's territory.

Her guides were a pair of ash-colored Plague dragons. Tephra, a bookish, but sociable scholar, Tephra, and his escort, Otreus. Both belonged to a lair in the Abiding Boneyard - which made them apt guides, as traversing that expanse was dangerous folly without extensive knowledge of the place.

She traveled with the pair for some time, until Tephra became homesick and longing for his library. She agreed to join them and return to their Clan lair for a time until the caravan made it's way by again, and she could return to it.

Icy Chains
Sangsorra never intended to remain with the clan, but the moment the clan's leader laid eyes on her, her fate was sealed.

"That one. She is perfect. She is beautiful. Her scales glisten like blood on the desert sand. Her eyes pierce through lies like needles of ice. She is what we need."
- Minstri

So it was one day that the Queen of Blood came to lay down by Sangsorra, and following her came a gold-studded Skydancer who passed his eyes over the Imperial in silent judgement. Seeing his eyes, crimson, but cold as ice, Sangsorra felt the ice in her own heart crack. She had not seen her birthplace in so long, but she saw it in the dispassionate gaze of Peryite.

Minstri saw the cracks and as she spoke, wormed her claws into them. Relaying poetry and tale that would appeal to the traveler's sensibilities, and speaking highly of her adviser. After that day Minstri said in private to Peryite,

"To keep her here for me, you must make her yours."

So, in service to his Queen, Peryite took to visiting and attending to Sangsorra, until she came to be in love with him. That love became a chain she could not bear to break, and the idea of leaving her new home hurt her heart sore. But almost as bad was the idea of not leaving - loosing the ability to travel the wild and wider world.

It was Peryite who provided the solution - having deciphered why Minstri desired the Imperial in the first place. She was to be their ambassador, their missionary. To travel on behalf of the clan and represent them to the world.

Shattering of the Shackles
Peryite's affections toward Sangsorra began to wane with the departure of his true love, Biloselhi Fire-eyes. This fall was furthered by the loss of most of his children to gods of other Flights, which wore on him sore and opened grievous wounds in his heart. Sangsorra still loved him, though it slowly became clear he could not return the affection as he once had.

"I can feel devotion for no other dragon beyond my Queen. To try otherwise runs my blood against the beat of my heart."

Good fortune came with the wildclaw, Bard. Bard was taken by Sangsorra's beauty, grace, and eloquence. So using Bard, Peryite sought to free himself from the bonds of love. Sangsorra could not notice Bard, herself, for her eyes were so occupied by Peryite.

But with Peryite's encouragement, Bard did court Sangsorra and charm her with his songs and stories. Though oft violent, Bard possessed bottomless charm, and a wide view of the world that Sangsorra loved dearly.

For awhile she was satisfied with this. Often away doing the Queens work. When she returned there was Bard always there, ready to listen to her stories and compose songs of the deed and grace.

But Peryite was also there. To be near him and not have him love her was too much. She took longer and longer journeys. She returned to the clan less and less. Until...

She didn't return at all.
