S U M M A R Y
A century ago, Austemper served devoutly as a general under a cruel witch king. When her lord received a mortal wound in battle, she sought desperately to save him. The king's successor instructed her to seal the body in a tomb inscribed with runes that would restore him, if only she was patient enough for his return. Patient she was, turning herself to stone in order to stand guard for the hundred years that her lord slept. But her yearning overtook her after such a watch, and she at last entered the tomb to see for herself the state of her charge. In his place she found only the dust and bones of a man long dead, having been lied to by the successor to get the king out of the picture so that he might have the throne and queen to himself. Though devastated by her discovery, Austemper had no other version of herself, and so returned to her post in forced ignorance of that which she knew to be gone. RODEL | Lord Anew The pair met by the will of Amortis, the God of Love, in xer recreation of the now cancelled SSFYS show. Austemper pledged her loyalty to Rodel and his cause, up until the line she knows she cannot cross. She silently pines for a love he does not feel he can allow himself to give her, and hopes to better him so that he no longer toes that line she can't follow him past. |

-very occasionally. rodel gives her an order and she simply says "no, my lord, I will not." and she has made herself indispensable enough rodel just has to Deal with that and learns to 100% respect it and redirect.
-occasionally rodel makes Overtures out of a combo of knowing she wants him extremely badly and wanting to keep her + a tangle of other justifications over/around his own desires. she always firmly turns him down.

thats very close to what i was imagining but ngl i did have it in just a slightly different direction
so like. the child cant be sacrificed right out of the egg right, shes got to be Ready, so like. theres a good bit of time, maybe a few months or however long whatever, where austemper can be smart. cause she Knows she wont allow this, and he knows that too cause she told him in game, but she can play it slow and carefully. that loyalty theyve built for one another being very key. then i think. if austemper convinces rodel that its important to give the child a name of her own before her time, i think thats fun and great, because now its like shes her own thing, instead of just a transitional body waiting its final use. rodel would still of course use her just as hes used so many dragons before, but then theres the issue of austemper, since shes clearly bonded with the kid. for some weird reason, he feels really compelled not to lose her. shes obviously very devoted to him and has been this whole time, but now he finds himself feeling a weird devotion of his own. uh oh bad guilt this is a betrayal of apophyllite wauugh. so it comes down to it, and austemper can give him an ultimatum, one that has a level of trust in it: if rodel kills the child, their child, then he can have apophyllite back but austemper will leave forever and hold resentment for him and for herself and what she did to help him get there. or, he can keep them both, austemper and their new kid, and allow himself to feel that newfound devotion he has for them, holding apophyllite in memories
