desert silk trader

biography
desert silk is unique in that it is made by silkworms which feed on cacti and weave their cocoons between cacti needles. due to their diet, these insects do not exist outside of the desert region and only lay eggs during the rainy season, making silk harvesting an uncommon practice. in order to protect desert silkmoth populations, the silk is only collected after the moths emerge from their cocoons. the broken strands are then woven together, resulting in fabric that is thicker and slightly more textured. the silk retains cooling properties from the cacti, making desert silk clothing popular among desert-dwelling dragons.
