There are those who would call Sabrille fearless; a machine of war for whom neither the weight of empathy nor of ethics hinders her thirst for battle, for victory, and blood. This is kinder than most things that could be said of her, it’s true, but Sabrille still says that ‘fearless’ and ‘bloodthirsty’ are inaccurate descriptors. And dramatic.

The Warden, as she’s affectionately known, doesn’t have much patience for exaggerations -- or those who make them. Patience is a precious commodity, for those naturally deficient in it especially, and all of Sabrille’s is channeled into her responsibilities. She is universally considered the best-suited dragon for the job, but training the house’s newcomers in the finer points of not dying a pitiful and gruesome death in the Mire consumes the majority of her time and energy, to say nothing of her fragile composure. What’s left is often funneled into the overseeing of in-house fights, and into contending in fights of her own.

She usually wins, these days. In the months after her transformation, she sorely missed the massive Guardian body she had once crushed her opponents under. The blows to her new body only aggravated the injuries to her pride, but no amount of rage could return the weight and power to her attacks, and it was only her mettle and long hours of training her teeth and claws that restored her fearsome reputation.

Now the Dame of Starwood Strand is again regarded with respect and discussed with thinly-veiled dread by those who have witnessed her fight or tasted her brittle rebukes. Sabrille, the Fierce one once more, looks down her nose at such sorry dragons. They too could learn to best larger, more skillful foes, earn themselves names and honors, and be worth more than their pitiful hides if they worked up enough nerve. Sabrille detests those that would use their weakness as an excuse not to venture onto the battlefield, but deep within her, her Guardian’s heart purrs at their praise.

She is known. She is feared. It’s no less than she’s earned, and it is enough.
